Lots of questions !!!

Hi, my name is Vickie and I live in the western part of the state. I am so glad I found this board, it's nice to see that I am not alone in this journey... I meet with Dr. Holloway on May 12 this seems like FOREVER. I was trying to save some extra money for the time I will be off, so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas how long I will need to be gone from work, I work in a hose manufactoring plant and do very heavy physical work with lots of lifting, pushing, pulling, etc. Is there a deposit for the Dr. or the hospital? How does the Dr. do the fills and how often? Anything else anyone has to add would be great, I am trying to get as much info. as possible. Thanks Vickie

Hi Vickie, congratulations on your decision to have surgery. Since you do a lot of lifting at your job, you might need at least a couple of weeks or more before you can return to work. I was off 3 weeks when I had my band. I did a lot of lifting. Usually the office requires 1000.00 deposit. The doctor does the fills in his office. You need to see him on a monthly basis for the first year. That is so important to keep you on track and get your appetite shut down. After the first year, the doctor will decide how often he wants to see you. You can email me privately if you need any additional information. Mona

hi Mona, thanks for the info!!! what does the Dr. require after I am approved from my ins. before i can schedule surgery? I am soooo ready to have this done. Also, is there a support group in Alliance. Thanks again, Vickie

Viclie, Your in the best hands possible...I am nearly 4 years out. I am a bander also. I love the drs, hospital and Mona! Not necessary in that order, haha. Mona is coming to NP the 4th of April toput on a meeting ans if you could come you would lears so much! I know its far and Alliance has a group you should go to. Before and most important after. Hi Vickie! I see you are in Alliance also. I also had a Lap Band from Dr. H. He's a great surgeon. The process takes alittle while. Or it did for me. I met the surgeons on Sept 7th. And then ins was filed for pre approval. I had my surgery on Dec 8th. So about 3 months. The clinic did require a $1000.00 deposit before I could be scheduled for surgery. I see Dr. H on a regular basis. Lately it's been every 2-3 weeks. Just trying to get the right amount of a fill. I think I'm there now. We do have a Support Group in Alliance. It meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The next one is April 11th. You definetely should come check it out. It's held in the BBGH in the Alliance meeting room at 7pm. I know I first started this journey I had so many questions!! So feel free to ask!! Jess 253/210/140
