Gettin to know you!
Well this Nebraska board is getting to... quiet. Lets play a game!
Where do you live?
I live in north central Nebraska, the small community of O'Neill (shamrock city).
Do you have a DH or children? I have a son 25, he lives in Omaha, and I have a daughter 20 who lives here with her new DH and will give me my first grandchild in May. My DH is retired National Guard, he manages a marina in South Dakota in the summer and works in manufacturing during the winter (can't keep him TOOO.... retired) LOL
we have been married for 13 years.
Do you have pets? We have a lab retriever, Millie and a pure bred golden retriever Isabel. Spoiled horribly rotten!!
What are your hobbies or things you like to do? I love to bass fish, my all time love. Would do it all the time if someone would pay me. I also like to read and bake and spend lots of time outdoors.
Why did you decide to have your wls? I had been a mommy and wife for so many years it was time for me to do something for ME. Health reasons were the main reason I did it. Want to see all my granbabies come into this world.

Do you have a DH or children? Yes I'm married. My DH's name is Romie. We've been married almost 5 years. We have one DD..Mia she is turning 1 on Dec 23.
Do you have pets? No pets.
What are your hobbies or things you like to do? I LOVE shopping!! I love the outdoors. I love walking, swimming and hanging with my family.
I chose to have wls for my health. I want to be around to watch my DD grow up! I want to be healthier.
Hi everyone!! I live in North Platte and have 3 boys ages 10, 6 and almost 3. I am a stay at home Mom and have been married for 18 years and together for 21. My husband works for the UPRR.
Pets?!.......Where do I start? We have a cat named smokey, a bunny named Chevy, a hermit crab named Hermie, a fish tank full of fish, 4 adult gerbils and 6 babies (4 weeks old today..too cute!), and a most wonderful pure bread golden retriever named Sadie (also spoiled rotten Divine_Ms. M) She is a house dog and goes where ever we go. My 10 year old did 4H with her last year and got two blue ribbons in obedience and showmanship and Grand Champion in Agility! She is my only Girl.
I love to fish also, although I don't usually catch much. Maybe we should get together and go sometime and you could give me a few pointers .
I love to go camping and also love to swim but haven't for a very long time. That is one of my goals after surgery. Gardening is something I couldn't live without! I have to have my flowers and veggies. I start most everything from seed which is so much fun. My Mom is a Master Gardener and I have learned so much from her. This summer, her, my husband and I canned 93 pints of salsa! Took us all day. Yummmmmmm!
I feel like I should say that health is the main reason for me wanting surgery (I'm pre-op) but it's not. Although health is one of the many reasons, the main ones are being able to spend QUALITY time with my boys and getting rid of the embarassment and self consciousness and getting my self esteem back. I just can't do the things that I want so badly to do with my boys...like SWIM! I'm a tomboy at heart and love to throw the football and rollerblade and play baseball but just don't have the energy and I feel like I am missing out on so much. I want to watch my kids grow up and set a good example for them. I feel so bad about myself right now and have for a long time. I'm tired of feeling embarassed, humiliated, anxious, nervous and depressed. I am constantly thinking about my weight and just don't feel like I fit in...even around my friends. My weight has a very "big" (no pun intended) effect on me emotionally. Some people seem to handle it so well..like it doesn't bother them. It constantly occupies my mind and I let it define who I am. I just want to feel normal.
I'm sorry for rambling and hope it isn't TMI. Sometimes I get to thinking and typing and I just can't stop. I'm sure you intended this thread to be a happy one and hope I didn't bring everyone down.
It's nice to read from others here in NE. Hope this board picks up.
Thanks for listening

Hi Rhonda, I live in Western Nebraska. I have a DH and 3 stepchildren and 2 grandchildren. They all live in Scottsbluff. My DH is a warehouse foreman for a bean coop. I have two spoiled siamese cats named Toby and Tillie. I love to travel, read and spend time with my family. I love American History. I had surgery because I wanted to be healthier. I wanted to be around for my DH, and kids. I am almost 4 years out with my band and am able to maintain my weight loss. Mona
Hello Everybody!
I live in Scottsbluff which is western NE. I am not married. I have been and have three adult children. I have six grandchildren. One grand-daughter (16 yrs old) and five grandsons from 18 down to 4 years old.
I am 65 years old and still employed full-time as a representative payee
for a good number of people. There are three of us in the office. I don't plan to retire anytime soon as I really like what I do and working with people. I have also worked in the mental health field and in the special education world with behavior disorders and learning disabilities.
I love amimals... have several dogs (some house, some not) My most recent one is an American Eskimo (Spitz) rescue. She has been a real challenge as she had been abused. She is a love. Also have cats that range in age from 20 yrs on down. Most recent is a beautiful silver Persian...she is such a little lady too. A horse and a donkey live on the farm too. Have had sheep and goats in the recent past. Have done the rabbit scene too. My living partner is a teacher and has classroom pets also whi*****ludes birds. I have finches and parakeets at my office too. (now you know I probably belong in a zoo)
Other interests are reading and crafts. I am a beginning quilter and want to do more of that if I ever retire.
I want to have wls to help with chronic pain control from my arthritis. As I get older it is worse and worse and about the only option for making it better to to get rid of the weight which I've tried for years to do, but to no avail. My youngest daughter (now 40) had the DS over two years ago in Omaha and has done remarkably well. She is very supportive of me and thinks my quality of life would greatly improve with the surgery. I am on medicare and am having trouble getting approved. I have chosen the VSG as my best option. I don't have a surgeon yet....since I may have to pay myself. (OUCH!)
Sorry this is so long.
Mardell
