I have Nebraska Blue Cross PPO insurance and would like to know from anyone who also has that insurance, how they got them to cover the surgery. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same insurance and was approved quickly. You need to make sure your employer has the WLS covered in their plan. I wrote a very long letter detailing all my diet history; maybe that helped. Ruth

Mary, I had my surgery in Omaha with Dr. Gary Anthone and live in Calif, so I have Blue Cross (Calif) PPO. My surgeon is really great about talking to the doc at the ins co *****views your case. Dr. Anthone has authored many published (in medical journals) papers and Blue Cross CA has even quoted his research in their medical policy. Dr Anthone performs both the RNY and the Duodenal Switch (DS). (For more info on the DS, visit www.duodenalswitch.com) You might want to call his office and see if they can help you.
