Hello everyone, my name is Chasity and i am new to the board, I am 20 yrs old from Omaha and i am interested in this surgery. I never used to be heavy actually less then 6 yrs ago i was only 140. Now after giving birth to my son i am up to a 260 and No matter what i do i cant loose! Ive tried WW, JC, magic pills gimic diets even excersice. So im wondering if i would be a good canidate however!!( i have no insurance) so i was curious to know how much these surgerys cost! I can do financing but i was just wondering if anyone else has done it with out insurance. I was also wondering the pain afterwards? how is that like? i am really scared to get it but more scared of dieing of being over weight. I already have sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes and knee problems. Thanks for input
Chasity, You don't say how tall you are? Check your BMI and see where you stand there. I had my lap rny done in Grand Island and it cost about $35000.00, I had insurance. I didn't have to do all the pre testing and attending seminars like so many do, just a few initial health tests 3 days before surgery. The whole process was pretty easy. The pain afterwards is very bearable, and each day gets easier. Everyone is scared when going into this, its normal. I figured I was probably going to die at an early age anyway being obese, and i feel now that the surgery saved me.
So far I have lost 110 lbs in 8 months, it is a life change also, not just how you eat but it changes everything. You have to be prepared for that. A good support system at home also is a plus.

I am looking into WLS too. I went to a seminar by Dr. Gary Anthone. He does the DS surgery. He has a payment plan for his $29,500.00 bill. He said it covers everything. Any complications would be extra. But Physician's clinic and methodist allow you to pay before the surgery. Health touch one has more info on his next seminar. Creighton is having a seminar on 9-29 and 10-01 about their programs. They do the 3 major kinds, RNY, Lap band, and DS. But they answer most of your questions right there and you get an awesome presentation. Hope this helped.
