$$$$ of Lap band Operations in Nebraska?

I have been looking and I have been talking to different people.. Some are so very afraid if I go to Mexico of what could happen, So I need to look into the cost here in Nebraska, So can you who had it done VIA self pay kind of let me know the cost... My 401 K is not that big ( darn it ) Thank you LaDonna

Call Dr. Hung. He's in the phone book. I think he is the only one in Lincoln that does lap band in Lincoln. He also does RNY. There are several in Omaha. Hope this helps. Linda

Hi LaDonna! I was just wondering if you received my e-mail last week regarding the doctors out in Scottsbluff. I think the best way for you to find out the cost for self-pay is going to be to contact the surgeons personally. Dr. Holloway in Scottsbluff has placed hundreds of bands (600+) in the past three years, and is a wonderful doctor. I believe there are only three or four surgeons in Nebraska that do the Lap Band surgery at this time. You may already know this, but make sure that when you are doing your cost analysis that you carefully consider the cost of fills and aftercare. With the band, the aftercare is just as important as the surgery itself. If you do decide to go to Mexico, make sure there is a local doctor who will provide your aftercare. Hi LaDonna, there are several hospitals in Nebraska that do surgery self pay. Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff has a private pay price. For gastric banding it is around 20,000. If you need any more information you can email me privately at [email protected]. Hope this helps. Mona

Hello LaDonna, After two years of trying to get insurance and after that didn't work, trying to come up with the money myself to get the lap-band I went to Mexico. I went to a group called Obesity Goodbye in Tijuana and was banded on April 11. If I hadn't gotten it done there I would still be trying to come up with $20,000.00+ and wouldn't have lost the 60 pounds i'm down. If you want to talk about Mexico i'm more than willing to tell you about my experience and wont pull any punches. It's not for everyone but it's worked well for me.
