Support Groups?

Hi all, I am planning on moving to Homer, Ne. next spring. Is there any support groups in the Sioux City area? My next question is, there are so few people on this message board, Where is everyone? Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, I check in here every day but it seems NE isn't a very chatty group. I don't know where Homer is. Is it a small town? Are you a native Californian? And why would anyone move to Nebraska? I have never figured out why I stay in Nebraska. I hate the hot summers and cold winters. I guess the only reason I stay is my family is here and I'm too poor to move. Linda

Hi Linda, Yes, I am a native Californian. My Mother passed away in March and my sister moved to Nebraska in May to be closer to my two nieces & thier families. I want to move there because I just can't afford to live here. A shabby little two bedroom one bath goes for $200,000. And the pay scale is the same here as Nebraska. I am a single Mom and could not ever afford a home here. It is always hot here, and the winters get down to the 20's in the winter. I have lived in Washington State where it was 10 below in the winter. I just want change. Too much crime here. My daughter is in to horses, barrel racing and I think it would be a great opportunity to own our own land to keep our two horses. My niece just bought a 3 bdrm 2 bath in Homer for $90,000 on 3 1/2 acres. Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, If you are near the Omaha area there should be some support groups available to you. If you call the hospitals they can direct you. You can also post a message and we will be happy to help you. Living in Nebraska there are usually other people who have had bariatric surgery who are able to share their experiences with others who need information. Hope this helps. Mona

Jeannie, Im here too just been here. I'm in North Platte(middle of Ne). Im sure there are groups in SC. Im going to post on the iowa board as soon as i get info on the OH walk Sept 24th.
