Lap Band Operation
Hello LaDonna!! I had the same problem, and found a wonderful surgeon on the south-of-the-border forum here on OH. I would be happy to help you with some information. I had open RNY, but I do know another gal from central Nebraska who had LAP Band in Mexico. If I recall correctley it only cost her around $7000. You can also check out the forum for your self at obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/south-of-the-border/posts.html. Remember to put the WWW in front! Let me know if you need any help, I had my surgery in April and have already lost 78 pounds!! I feel wonderful! I hope you can experience the same success I have!
Love and hope to you!

Hi LaDonna, I had the lap band surgery in jan 2002. I have lost 110 pounds and cured my diabetes and high blood pressure. I feel great. I had my surgery with Dr. Holloway. He was excellent. You might check with the hospital or surgeon you are wanting. There should be a private pay arrangement available. There is one set up at our hospital. It usually runs at around 20,000. Each practice has a different price. Good luck in your journey. Mona
LaDonna, you might want to check Dr. Jeff Holloway in Scottsbluff, Ne I know he has a real good price for self pay. Plus he the best man in the field. I had my lap band 3 years ago last month and I was one of his first 100 banders and now he has done over 650. He's great!
Good luck

LaDonna,
I had surgery in TJ, Mexico on July 14, 2005 with the Obesity Goodbye Center. My cost was $7800 plus my airfair from Omaha, Nebraska. This also included my husbands stay. They picked us up at the San Diego Airport and took us across the border and I had my pre-op tests and then they took us to our hotel, which was wonderful...A 5 star hotel. They picked us up at the hotel in the morning, took us to the surgical clinic and preformed the surgery. It lasted less than an hour. Because I was their only patient in the surgical center that day, I had one-on-one nursing care and it was wonderful. My husband was able to stay in the hospital with me. The next day they took us back to the hotel and they gave us a nextel radio so that we had 24 hour access to the Dr's and Patient Coordinators. The night after the surgery I was having trouble relaxing and sleeping and they brought me something to help me sleep. They were all really great and helpful, and because I didn't have insurance to help me this was a very affordable option for me. I was able to get financing through Monarch (which you can find online). Even though I'm only one week out I'm feeling very good, actually started back to work on Monday (although I work from home). I think this is the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. So far, one week out, I've lost 11 lbs. I realize right now is not about losing weight but healing, but it's still great to see.
I hope I answered some of your questions. If I can be of any other help, since it's still very fresh in my mind, please feel free to contact me.

I know that St. E's in Lincoln is working on a self pay package for Lap Band. As far as I know it is about 14,000. I think this applies to the entire procedure, doc's fee's and anesthesia. You would need to call and verify though as they are just getting the details worked out. Good luck in you attempts!
