Anybody from Omaha?

I am up for a job in the city...any suggestions where to live and local recreation would be appreciated. I would really like a downtown loft if available.....Thank you in advance.

Hi Mark!! WOW...Signal Mountain! I lived in Chattanooga for a while! Small world...wouldn't want to paint it! LOL I live in Omaha, I am originally from SOUTH Georgia....and I LOVE it here! Been here 11 years and this is HOME for me! Hmmmmm, let's see Jazz I can help you with..>Sushi...YUCK...LOL I know we have lots of it...I just don't eat it. I know we have a KOBE Steakhouse, Is that Japanese? When are you headed this way?? You will LOVE it here I am sure! We have FOUR seasons!! GREAT sports! Lots of outdoor activites, healthy foods and stores! Festivals, Ballet, Opera, all kinds of music, Huge corporations whose CEO's eat lunch at Mom & Pop luncheonettes-we are truly a little town that acts like a big city. Oh...AND, The fall is like NOTHING you've ever experienced...It's amazing! Yes, I know...I sound like a commercial. But I really DO love it here! Sushi? You like sushi? YUmmmmm I know of 2 good sushi restaurants in town I think you will like Omaha, there is so much to do. and the down town old market area where the lofts are is fantastic!! So many things to see downtown.Good luck with the job. Jean

Hi Mark, I'm a native Omahan. There's no place like Omaha! We have an explosion of old buildings in downtown being refurbished into Loft's, and I guess they are beautiful. I work downtown and the new riverfront development and the activities go on almost every weekend in the summer. Jazz on the Green. Summer Arts Festival. Ethnic festivals. In September we've got Septemberfest, River City Round up. It's really big stuff. Oh! and with the Qwest Center opening we've had some world class show's coming to town. Events that we'd not even thought would be here 4 years ago. Let me see if I can remember That's only a few of the things I can think of. Let's see, I just came home from working in Lincoln and after I returned the company car I heard live music from one of the cafes that has an outdoor dining area. They have live music a couple nights a week. Do you have any children?? There are some great school systems to choose from. If you're a baseball fan we have hosted the College World Series for the past???? Many years and just got a 5 year contract to keep them here. Oh, and don't believe what you hear. Nebraska is not flat all over the whole state and we have many hidden places to visit that aren't on any tourist map. Oh year, we're not all cowboys especially in the eastern part of the state but you can find some authentic cowboys in the western part of the state in Ranch area. Hope you consider the move seriously

Oh My Gosh!!! How could I forget Cornhuskers Football!!! We're working over a ditch in the road right now with them but I'm sure they'll be on top again. Oh, the loft's are beautiful on the inside
