Questions for my brother????

Hey Nebraska family. My baby brother wants rny surgery, he has great BCBS ins thru the state of NE. His out of pocket expense is only $1500. He wants to have this surgery in Grand Island where I did, but.. the hospital wants $4000.00 up front (I never had to do this). Can anyone tell me if the other hospitals and dr.s in Nebraska require anything like this?? He really wants this, he's about 200 lbs overwieght and is worried he won't be here to see his 3 year old daughter grow up. HELP Would like to hear others stories on getting thru this. Rhonda

Hi I am having my surgery done in Council Bluffs at Mercy Hospital with Dr Dwain Rogers and he does NOT require anything like that. He is part of the Alegent Health System of Omaha, so tell your brother to look him up. He has a very short waiting list. The reason I say this is because there was a post yesterday that BCBS of Nebraska was going to start denying this surgery. So, he would need to get into to someone very quickly. I had surgery at Immanual Hospital w/Dr. White. I did not even have to make my Co-pay until after surgery. Hope that helps. Cathy -126
