I plan to have the adjustable lap-band proceedure (currently waiting for my last consultation before setting the date). I am looking for some advice from others who have had this proceedure. I get to read so many great stories about the RNY- and would like to hear more about the band. Jennifer

At the top of the screen click on Communities there's a forum that says Duodenal switch. click on the arrow and you'll see Lap band click on it then go and it will take you to a message board for Lap-banders. I'm sure there will be people there that can help ya out.

Hi Jennifer, I had my band surgery 3 years ago. I have lost 110 lbs. and have maintained my weight loss for over a year. I am no longer diabetic or have high blood pressure. I didn't have much pain with surgery but did have some nausea. I haven't had hardly any problems. The main thing is to slow down on eating and make sure your food is wet when you start eating again. I did have a band slippage after a year of having the band. I had to have surgery to repair it but I was out of the hospital the next day. I went back to work in a week. I would still have the gastric band done. It saved my life. Hope this helps. Mona

Thanks for your advice. I should be hearing from the office today to set my date. Our summer is just so busy- as I always seem to be. How did you know that your band had slipped?
