Am I doing the right thing???

When I ask - am I doing the right thing? you may be thinking that I am questioning having WLS. Well- that is true. I have doubts- but they quickly disappear when I try to keep up with my little girl at the park - or try to fit into (yet another) new pair of jeans. New... because nothing in my closet fits. Anyway, I digress, my biggest question at this time is "am I using the right sugeon???" I have been working with Dr. White in Omaha, NE. He has an excellent reputation and I knew someone who used him previously. But I live in West Des Moines. His office has made mistakes that has prolonged the (painful) insurance approval process. I am afraid that I may be making a mistake- using a DR. that is a 2 hour drive away.

I know that there are other people who have posted on this board who had Dr. White as their Dr. and they seemed very pleased with him. That's about all I can tell you on that subject. If you want the names of other Dr.s in Omaha I know there is Dr. McBride (female) my husband had her she is wonderful. And a friend had Dr. Sudan and really likes him. I think with Dr. Sudan there is a waiting period becuz he is so busy. Are there no Drs. in the Des Moines area that do the surgery ?? I don't think the distance is as important as how much confidence you have in the Drs. abilities in the OR. My Dr. was very good in the OR but since my surgery I have had doubts about his bed side manner and follow up and I'm thinking about trying to switch to another Dr. for my follow up appts. Good Luck to you in your journey ... Sue

Dr. White is my Dr and I can't say enough good things about him and Roxi! I could have had a Dr. 1 hour away, but I wanted Dr White who is 3 hours away. I just felt so comfortable with him and it just felt right. They helped me through so many things that I could never repay them for the emotional support that they gave me. If you want to hear me go on more about them I can!!

I love Dr. White. I can understand why you are having the feelings that you are, but one thing to remember is that it wasn't Dr. White who sent in the paper work. Mine was delayed as well. Stuff happens. Dr. White has a great reputation and is an excellent surgeon. Trust in the work he does, not the work the office administrators do. Keep us posted. Cathy -111

Thanks for the thoughts. I just returned from a vacation to New Orleans and had some time to think things through. I know it sounds weird- but Dr. White just seems like the one I was suppose to see. I hope the office can get it together. There is only one person here in Des Moines and he has limited experience. Many of the Drs. in the area only do "open" . I hope that UHC starts to get things sorted out and I can start the next step. UGH!
