Restaurant Eating
I had a good experience going out last night. My daughter and I ate at Jimmy Buffets "Cheeseburger in Paradise" what a fun place and the service was awesome. They had crab cakes on the menu butI sure didnt want to spend the $15 they were asking for the little bit I would eat. So
(for the first time) I pulled out my restaurant card showed the waitress, told her I had had gastric bypass and would there be anyway I could order one crab cake ala cart. Very pleasently she said she would ask but didnt think there would be a problem as their manager had had the surgery too. I got my 1 crab cake and was only charged $5.00. The others at the table said their salads and burgers were awesome too. I may try a burger there sometime sans bun. So, does any one else have any good suggestions for restarants that will work with us? I have wondered about Ameristar. We always loved to go to the friday night seafood buffets but again Im not paying the price just to nibble.. Have a good one everyone..JeanB
I got to order off the child's menu from Carrabba's Italian Restaurant when I showed them my restaurant card. They were very polite about it. I got a child's chicken breast and garlic mashed potatoes... which was enough for 3 meals but at a price of only $4.99 compared to $12.99.
Some restaurants will not take the card anymore... KUDOS to those who do!!!!

Jean,
I have not had good luck with Ameristar. I tried to use my card there and they said no as far as the buffet went, but the other resturants would allow it so we ate there. The only other place that I have had bad luck with was Valentinos. I have had great luck with Red Lobster and I love the childrens crab legs. Most places I have found don't have a problem with you ordering off of the children's menu or whatever.
Good Luck

We were in Omaha the other day and stopped at the Flying J on I-80. My daughter and I have both had the surgery now so I showed the waitress my card. She wasn't sure about it so the manager came over and was very nice about it asked to see my card and explained it to the waitress. My daughter who is only a few weeks out ordered soup and mashed potatoes and I had some buffalo wings (my husband ended up with what I couldn't eat). They were very nice and would have let us order off the childrens menu but we didn't really find anything we wanted on it. That's the first time I've used my card. Golden Corral in Grand Island will charge us for a child's buffet when I go with my husband there. My husband just told them I had the surgery I've never showed them my card. I've had pretty good experiences with it. Most of the time I just order a regular meal and tell them I will need a doggie bag or box with my meal and take it home. P.S. I really do have two dogs at home !!
