Grand Island support group

Now that the holidays are almost over, I'm going to try to make it to a support group meeting. Does anyone here go to the GI meetings? I forget who was telling me about it before, but I know your hubby and daughter (??) were going to try to go? Is there a number to call for info on it? And it's the first and 3rd mondays, right? TIA!

Hi Jacquie It was me I don't get to the meetings very often I work evenings thats why the late post times!! Yes there are meetings on the first and third Mondays at 7 pm in the O'brien room. I haven't been to one in a while. You could call St. Francis hosp and make sure they are still having them. Also I think they have them during the day and evening on Saturdays but I'm not sure which Saturdays. My daughter has her surgery with Dr. Goering on Jan 11th and my husband doesn't have a surgery date yet but they have told him sometime in March. The VA in Omaha is setting up for Lap-RNY surgery now and it won't be fully ready until March. They are doing his pretesting now tho and he has his physic test and heart testing done already. How's it going for you I know the first few months are kind of tuff??? ... Sue

I'll give St. Francis a call and see what they have! How's your daughter feeling?? I bet excited and nervous!! Good luck to her!! It's getting better for me. There are definately foods that my stomach isn't ready for but I'm feeling so much more like a normal person! I can have a bit or 2 of what other people are eating for dinner so I'm not always the oddball.

Hello! I have a number/name for the GI group- Pat 384-8361. I wish there was one in Hastings. I just had my surgery on November 15th. I have lost 30 pounds! Yeah!

Hi Anna! Nice to meet ya! We had surgery the same day! I bet if we could find some of the others in or around hastings we could get our own group going. I haven't talked to her yet, but my pastor said there was a lady in the town next to us that had it done a few weeks before us. She may be interested too! Just a thought! Thanks for the number!

I know of at least 2 others who have had this surgery. Maybe we should get together and see what we can do. I had surgery in Junction City Kansas, where did you go for yours?

I had my surgery out in Omaha. I had to take my daughter to the Dr's today and afterwards she asked how things were going for me after the surgery and everything. We were talking and I told her about how it would be nice if we could get a meeting going in Hastings. She thinks it would be a great idea! I'm going to see if my hubby (who works at mary lanning) can check into if we can get a meeting room some night at the medical services building at the hospital. I know they have all kinds of meetings in the basement. I'll just have to remember to ask him to ask! lol

Hi Jacquie! I'm in Kearney and would LOVE to get together with other surgery patients for support. I know the GI group used ot meet on Monday nights which didn't work for me. Let me know what your plans are but I'd love to meet!
