I do have problems with food sticking in my pouch. I thought I had gotten past that stage but today I ate some meat and it got stuck. The only thing I can do when this happens is make myself It is so uncomfortable and there is no relief unless I get rid of whatever is stuck. This has happened to me a dozen times or so since surgery. The good thing is I know my pouch is still there and not stretched but it's miserable to have it happen. I'm not sure if I ate too fast or the meat was too dry or what it was but it took three times to get it all out. I was at work and it was very embarrassing. I ate some more of the same meat on my next break and had no problems (was very careful to chew well and eat slowly). I have not had any dumping snydrome so far and hope I never do I have read where its pretty awful. I did eat some fruit ( pineapple) and it went thru me pretty fast but I didn't get sick from it.

Sue, I have only gotten sick (puked) three times since Ive had surgery, and they have all happened because I didn't chew well enough. I never drink with meals, but if something is too dry I will have a very small sip to moisten any food. The longer you are out the better this will get for you. I have only had one case of real severe dumping and that was at of all places the Fairbury flee market on the 4th. I had eaten a pork BBQ sandwich. The pain was so bad, it ranked right up there with labor pains. If I eat foods high in sugar or fat I get very sleepy, they say that this is a form of dumping. Chris in Beatrice

I had the DS, so this may vary from the RNY folks. I have puked 6 times since surgery. I think it is from eating too fast in my case. Thankfully (this is gross) the food is fairly fresh, and not large amounts, so puking is no big deal, and is really a relief. I avoid eggs most of the time. I'm doing better with bread now. Strangely, the only thing I can eat with NO problem is sugary stuff! Candy, cake, ice cream, etc.... It will be 11 weeks tomorrow, down 42 lbs.

I'm not sure if we're all that different is this dept. If I eat too fast or eat something to dry it gets stuck and if it doesn't come back up on its own I make myself Puke. Since the food hasn't started digesting yet it doesn't smell and isn't really broken down that much so it's not that bad but I hate when it happens!! I have heard with DS you really have to be careful about making sure you have your blood tested regularly becuz you can have absorbtion problems. One women in a support group meeting was having vitamin absorbtion problems and was saying she might have to have vitamin shots which are painful. I think DS has its advantages over RNY and vice versa. I think with DS you more likely not to gain any weight back ?? Am I right ? I try to avoid the Candies, Cookies, Cakes and Ice Cream only had a taste here and there but they do go down without any problems. I lost a couple more now down 57. Three more to 60 !!!!!!! Hope soon before Jan 1 I'll really have a Happy New Year!!

Thankfully I haven't had any problems. I've only thrown up once and that was from eating to fast. In fact my hubby and I were just talking about it this morning. How suprised he is (and I am too) that I'm not throwing up from all this stuff like we've heard everyone else say. lol, makes ya worry this is to good to be true!
