Hi Ruth be sure to post and let us know how your doing after your surgery. The first few weeks and months are kind of rough but after that it gets much easier. You get into a routine and things go smoother. Where are you having your surgery ?? what Dr? What kind Open Lap ? RNY or DS ??

I am having Dr. McBride at UNMC, a lap RNY. I am surprised I was able to get it so soon after approval. Ruth

Wow there are people out there in Nebraska and everyone is doing so great !!... I normally work nights to I don't get to the support group meetings in GI very often but have gone a few times. I think a spring get together would be great! My husband is in the process of having WLS thru the VA in Omaha had his Physic test today. My daughter is still waiting for insurance approval with Dr Georing. I went on a cruise with my sister , sister in law and 6 of my female cousins a few years ago ( last time I lost any weight in 1998 long story) It was great fun!! Glad to get such a good response from everyone!

Actually they haven't given us the name of the surgeon yet ! My husband just had his Physic test (12/14) He goes in for a stress test next week in Omaha VA. The first time he asked them about WLS at the VA in Grand Island they told him they don't do it any more. Then he asked someone else later on and they told him they were going to start doing Lap where they had been doing open but felt it had too many complications or something (I don't think there are as many complications as there were a few years ago with open ). They told us it could be March before he actually has the surgery and then they want me to stay in Omaha with him for a week after the surgery in a motel so he stays close incase of problems and has someone with him. Sorry guess this is more info then you asked for

Hey Huskers! I'm down here in the corner of the state doing great, I had surgery 3-5-03 in SD, and have lost 155lbs. I feel great! I do a lot of support group things, on line and with our local support group. I think the key to success is getting support along the way, even if you feel like your failing, we can all help eachother. Chris in Beatrice
