Questions..Questions...Questions
Ok...I am fairly new here, and hope to find that I am amoung friends. I finally had the nerve to discuss surgery with my doctor and he immediately said that he would set up a referral.
Anyway, my question is that I was told I have to have Psych Eval, and just the name itself scares me. Can anyone tell me what it is that they are looking for? I mean if you are overweight, can they deny surgery? I have bi-polar, chronic depression, manic depression, and seasonal effects disorder, and now I am scared to be honest with them in the evaluation. I don't want my "conditions" to get me denied. I sure do hope that I am making sense here.
Thanks for any help...
To put it in a nutshell Rose they are looking to see if you have reasonable expectations of this surgery and are able to understand instructions and have a willingness to follow them. Plus it does cause some stress, some people do have become depressed with the big change and it is a change. You have been through a lot but I bet there isnt a test they are going to do that you havent already been through. I would ask your mental health provider if they agree with your medical doctors referal. Good luck.. JeanB
