central nebraska area??
Hi Nanc! nice to see someone else in this area! I'm planning on having RNY with Dr. White in Omaha. Hopefully by the begining of December. I was approved by insurance, but the paperwork just said gastric bypass, the Dr's office wants in in writing that's it's RNY. so we're just waiting on that. Hopefully by the end of this week! I haven't been to any of the support group meetings. There was one the night of the orientation, but it was at the same time. I read your profile and it looks like you're doing pretty good! How much have you lost so far? I bet you're feeling pretty good!

Hi Jacquie.. I've posted before so you may have seen my name... I'm from Aurora just 20 miles east of Grand Island. I had surgery July 21st 2004 just about 3 months ago it was rny (lap) with Dr Goering. So far no complications. I had my surgery on Wed. and went home on Fri (23rd) and went back to work on the following Sat (9 days later)(desk job). I had surgery at St Francis so it was alot easier on my husband driving back and forth. My husband has a surgery consult on Nov 29th in Omaha thru the VA. There are support group meetings in GI at St Francis The first and Third mons and First and Third Sats. You don't have to have your surgery done there it's for anyone interested in the surgery or just wanting to know about it or people who are post-op. Unfortunately I work nights (evenings) so the times are all wrong for me so this website has been a god sent for me. I not only check the Neb Message Board I also check the Messageboard for people who had surgery in July all over the U.S. I am kind of a slow loser I have lost 42 lbs now. Started at 311 and am now down to 269 My daughter (she's 28 yrs old single mom) is trying to get approved for rny lap with Dr Goering also so this will be a real family thing If you have any questions I'll try to help ya out .. I know your kind of scared but that's normal. It's not easy you have like food withdrawal and some times I wonder what and why I did this to myself but then I try on a pair of jeans that are smaller and thank God I did I have threwn up becuz of dry food (chicken is the worst) and it got stuck in my pouch and it hurts until it comes back up.. I guess this may be TMI huh.. Let me know if theres anything I can help ya with Sue (by the way I'm probably old enough to be your mom )
Congrats on the 42 pounds lost! I would love to be a slow looser that has lost that much! I'm glad that it's working so well for you! I'll have to look into that support group. If I would have known I would be doing this surgery instead of the band I would have probably been with Dr. Goering too. I'm not really scared about any food issues my fear is dying! Unfortunately I've heard too many horror stories! But all the good stories I read here help alot! So hopefully I can get the surgery done and behind me and move on with the rest of my healthier life!

Good Afternoon Jacquie;
I am in the Omaha area (sorry). But thought I would post you a message anyway. Good Luck on your surgery, I hope things go well. I saw that you are having Dr. White do your surgery? At Immanuel? I had Dr. Torpy who is in with Dr. White. I had the Vertical Banded Gastroplasty on November 4, 2002. I finally reach goal weight (well by what my family doctor established - 155 lbs) Dr. Torpy mentioned 135!!!!! I am 5'9 - I feel I am just right!!! My boyfriend says I am too skinny - imagine that! I have lost 172 pounds, too skinny??? I think not. I feel great. Some days I wish I could eat a whopper and I don't mean just a bite, but then I remind myself of how miserable I was before. IT IS WELL WORTH not eating the whole whopper, ha ha.
Good Luck and hang in there!
172 pounds gone!! Wow! that is awesome! Congrats! I'm 5'9 too and I think 135 would be too skiny! My goal weight is 160. I got down to 204 once and was feeling great, I can only imagine being at goal wieght! Yes I'll be having my surgery at immanuel. What did you think of the hospital? I've heard mostly good things, but a few bad.
