insurance issue

I looked through the insurance part of the posts and couldn't find any recent info on Blue Cross/Blue Shield, has anyone recently had surgery or approval through them I would just like some info, I have started a new job and I know that their coverage is BC/BS so I would like to know more before I decide to go with their insurance.

I think it just depends on what your company opts to pay for. Not so much the insurance company. Good luck to you! Cathy -68

The company I work for has BC/BS. I looked in my handbook I got from the company and it said something like "it did not cover weightloss programs except surgery". When I called them to ask about it they said the Drs. ofc had to send in all the information and then they decide if they will cover it. Some companies have things put in there policies excluding weightloss surgery. You would just have to call once your on the insurance and ask. Some times it depends on what you have wrong with you that's compounded by obesity. I have heart disease and high blood pressure.. arthuritis etc..etc.. BC/BS covered my surgery and I had rny-lap on July 21st of this year.

Hi Kimmy; I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield - my coverage does cover the procedure. I had the VBG done November 4 2002. Took care of it all (I had some other medical stuff earlier in the year so I had met my cap. I do have a friend that has been dealing with them for about 4 months now, they are dealing her a fit. I am not sure if it is how the doctor is presenting it to them or what. Good Luck it is well worth it. I have lost 172 pounds and hit my goal weight. It is wonderful. I cry everytime I think of how I thought I would never be thin again!!!!
