Hi Bob,
Not sure if I can be of any help but I will try. I have BC/BS of GA and they informed me mine would be okayed as long as it was medically necessary. I have the last test to do on the 17th and then it will be submitted to insurance. Did you find out if morbid obesity is covered, or just obesity? And is it your insurance that is the problem or does your insurer have an exclusion in your policy? I hope I am somewhat of a help to you, let me know how things turn out or if I can try to help you out anymore.
Best Wishes,
Di
Hello Bob,
I had my surgery on April 26th with Dr. Sudan at Creighton Medical Center and he is wonderful. I was also self pay and the totally cost was about $23,000 and well worth it. Dr. Sudan is so nice and knows his stuff very well, I have Lap RNY; so you don't have to have open if you don't want to. If you have any other questions, just let me know! Good Luck

I was just scrolling through the messages and saw yours.
At my 6 month appointment, my surgeon, Dr. Gary Anthone said he has a self-pay program which I think was at around the mid 20's. That included 5-6 day hospital stay (which is for an open DS).
I recommend Dr. Anthone. He is with Physician's Clinic and does surgery at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. If surgeon's offer a self-pay program, generally it is at a lower rate than the insured rate (same with my car for window replacement
Best of luck.
