Is anyone going to hear Barbara Thompson speak?

Hey everyone, I bought the book "WLS, Finding the Thin Person Hiding Inside You" by Barbara Thompson and then found out she is speaking here in Omaha on August 12 from 7-9pm. I believe it is at NE Methodist College in the Omaha Room 8501 W. Dodge Rd. It's free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Dr. Gary Anthone but anyone with any surgeon can go. Her book is pretty cool, it covers pretty much everything you could imagine with WLS. Well, let me know if anyone is going. Cindi

I was thinking about going. I read her book as well and am interested to see what she has to say. I am coming form the Lincoln area. I am having the Lap-band surgery next month, but I think whatever info she has to offer would probably be useful for either surgery.

Hi Cindi, I too, was planning on going to see Barbara in Omaha on the 12th, but I went to my support group meeting last night and was informed that they are not sure if she is going to make it. She is planned to speak right after the obesity walk at 12:00, but she is flying in from another state in which she is speaking the night before and we were informed that her plane will not arrive in Omaha until 11:30 (and that is even if it is on time). Barbara is wanting to push her time back to 3:00, but Lisa(Dr. Hung's nurse) told us that she doubted people would hang out for that long, especially those from other states that may be coming in so they are planning on having others speak as a back up just in case. Di, Would it be possible for me to catch a ride with you to see Barbara? I am waiting for insurance approval for DS surgery and am a patient of Dr. Gary Anthone's. I live in Lincoln. I really don't like to drive in Omaha. Usually when I go to Omaha my husband drives but he works evenings so can't go. Please email me. Thanks, Linda
