Now were chatting!
I think we could be starting a good trend getting NE to post. I am approved and scheduled for a Lap RNy with Dr. McBride Aug.17th. I am petrified but excited. I have what I am to assume are typical pre-op nerves and doubts but I am really hoping to make it through with no complications. It is weird because one of the reasons I want to do this is for my son, to set a good example and be healthy and here for him, BUT at the same time I fear doing this because of my son not wanting to die and not be here for him at all! I am sure these fears are normal as with any surgery.
On another note what type/brand of protein shakes and vitamins is everyone taking. There are too many to choose from it is confusing. Also did anyone buy Barbara Thompsons book and if so is it worth buying?
I should run but NE keep posting!!!

Jean, You'll be a loser by this time next week! Remember everyone has different experiences with this surgery. Some people have a really rough time, but I was one of the lucky ones....it was a breeze for me Keep us posted when you get home and hollar if you have any questions or need something. I'll be thinking of you.

Hey Cindi, Your feelings are completely normal! I tried to think of it this way if i do nothing I could die too. Its worth taking the chance....and everything you do is a chance. You could die in a car wreck but you still drive right? I don't do the protein shakes, i haven't found one i liked. I take flinstone vitamins and the b-12 shots every 6 weeks. I haven't bought the book, let me know if you buy it and is good. If you have any questions i'm here cindi.

I was nervous before the surgery just like you are. I am approximately 4.5 months post-op and have lost 140 lbs. Things are going great. They were a little rocky at first bu now going great. As far as vitamins I just take a genaric pre-natal vitamin a day-walmart special. I use designer weigh protein for my shakes. I did buy the book. My Dr. required me to. It was pretty good. There were some very useful things and then some things that didn't even apply to me. She talked about different kinds of vitamins that I asked my Dr. about and he said they were about the same amount of good as what I was using only a lot more expensive. If you want to know more about my story then you'll have to read my profile. Any questions feel free to e-mail me. If nothing else good luck with your surgery and I'll be praying for you.
