What do you think?

Hey all! I'm originally from Nebraska and thats where most of my family lives (dad, sister, aunts, uncles etc) but I currently live with my mom and stepdad in hawaii (note: I hate hawaii, I only live here cuz I get along best with my mom... I suppose) Well, I've been trying to get WLS for over a year now but as there are only 2 surgeons on the island that take my insurance (tricare) it has been going extremely slow. It all gets complicated when I go into insurance but lets just say it bites. Well, I finally got to see a surgeon and I'm not all together thrilled with the hospital. SOOO... I came to this board to see if the situation in Nebraska is any different. Originally I would have completely opposed going back, as I am a very private person and I know my family would stick their noses in everything, but I'm just soooo frustrated now, I don't know what to do!! Help!

Blah! I just found out someone else with the same insurance and all, met with the same surgeon I'm seeing last month and is having surgery today! I met with him in January and I won't get a date till at least sept/oct (its been pushed back several times) GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Ashley, Sorry to hear you are so disappointed in the process, but it does take time. Just wanted to let you know that there are many skilled surgeons in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. If you do a search for surgeons in Nebraska you will find their forumns and can read all about them. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. Ashley, I can tell you that there are plenty of surgeons here (Omaha)and the one that I am seeing and having surgery with does not have a long wait list. In fact, I talked with one of his previous patients who has the same insurance you have and she was covered and everything w/insurance went easy. His name is Dr. Gary Anthone(pronounced antone)...he was in California or Florida or something like that before here. He just recently moved here as his family is here and he wanted to be closer to them. He's an awesome, awesome man.....caring, compassionate surgeon *****ally cares about his patients! So, yeah.......lots to offer here in NE! Carrie

Thank you all for your input I've been having a lot of second thoughts about having surgery here (hi) and I've started looking into the Nebrakan surgeons. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Ashley check into Dr. Ranjan Sudan at Creighton University Medical Center. I just had my surgery 4 weeks ago, and doing excellent. He is very nice and informative and the staff there is great!! Sarah
