I have a date!!!

I found out yesterday that my date for surgery is 5/11/04. I am so I can't believe it. It seems like I have been waiting forever. This whole thing started last June so it has been awhile. I am 50 years old and I would love to hear from women around my age (we seem to have different aches and pains than our younger counterparts). I'm being very careful how to walk up and down the stairs and all around basically. One wrong turn and there goes a knee for awhile. That's why I am so happy to finally see that "light at the end of the tunnel". I don't think my body can stand all this extra weight (I was 306 as of this morning) too much longer!!!!!! My blood pressure medicine does not want to work. Since I have had high blood pressure for the past 7-8 years, I have not seen 120/80 yet. Mine is hovering around 150/85. My doctor keeps trying different medicine's but none seem to get me down to that "golden" number. Oh well, i hope this surgery will!!!! I will go for now and write after surgery Melanie A.

Hi Melanie, I am 53 and had my ds on 1-20-04. It was done in Omaha with Dr. Sudan. I also had trouble controlling my bp ( before surgery it hovered around 160/95 ). I went to my pcp last week and it is now 120/60! I agree that we ds patients over 50 have different aches and pains, but at least our kids are grown . I know that your surgery was just a few days ago and I'm crossing my fingers that you are doing well. Wendy open ds 1-20-04, 57 pounds gone 4ever!
