I have an upcoming surgery April 17 with Dr. Anthone.  I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that had him as their doctor and what they thought of him/his office?  I was told I would have to have a ventilator after surgery, so I'm really concerned about that.  If anyone else experienced this, please email me with your experience.

Thanks!
Carla

Carla- if you don't hear from anyone soon- post on the DS board I know several Anthone patients are regulars there.

I'm an Anthone patient but have not had my DS yet.  Anthone is one of the top DS sugeons in the country- you are in great hands- as for the ventilator ask on the DS board-I'm sure you will get a quick reply.

Dr. Anthone did my DS 5 years ago.  The office staff are very supportive.  They will all take good care of you.  The surgery is definitely worth it, remember you have do some of the work the surgery can't do it all.  Get involved in a Support Goup!  I can't stress that enough.

Hey Carlie,  you are in such very capable hands with Gary Anthone.  He is very compassionate and professional, not to mention that the DS is his passion.  He performed my DS on March 24,2008.  To date I have lost 115lbs.  I was 301 going into it.  I work with him in surgery also.  He is the same person in or out of the operating room.  As for the ventilator I am sure he has a very good reason behind leaving you on it after surgery.  Just ask him why.  One thing I can't stress more is to get up and walk whenever you are able to after your surgery.  I was up within 12 hours and never felt better.  Just go with whatever he says...he knows his stuff!!  If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you all for the responses.

Texasgirl66:  I did get a chance to talk to Dr. Anthone after this post about the ventilator and it looks like for right now I probably won't be on it.  But it all depends on how my oxygen sats do during surgery.  However, he did do a lot toward alleviating my fears about it.  He really is an awesome doctor - I'm very impressed with his calm, friendly, down-to-earth way of relating to me.  Thanks for the reassurance - and I will definitely make sure I'm up and walking as soon as possible!  I'm about 298 now going into this, so I hope to have as good success as you have!

Hi all of you who have had DS surgery.  I was considering VSG, but now the more I read about DS I'm thinking that's the way I should go.  I'm 48 now, so I don't know if age matters.  Just wondering how all of you are doing and if you are on solid foods...what a typical day of eating is for you?

Do any of you have BCBS of Nebraska?  If so, how are they to deal with.

Hope you are all doing well,
Holly
