I am just starting the process to to get approved for the RNY. Does anyone have Midlands choice insurance? I am so scared they are going to deny me!! I am going to a seminar in Omaha next week and my PCP said he would fill out anything I needed to get the surgery. I just have a feeling that my insurance company isn't going to approve it very easily

Hi, I have midlands choice and I was approved for banding. Call the company and ask them what criteria you need to meet for qualifying. Good luck. Mona

Hey Mona! I was looking at this old post of yours, because I too have Midlands choice, when I called the company and asked the the criteria I need to meet they told me obesity treatment was completely excluded from the coverage  I've been reading one here that you need to get letters and "jump through hoops" sometimes to get approved but I'm not sure if that  works if the company excludes obesity treatments.

I have Midlands Choice through my job.  It took me 9 months to get approval for the DS.  Are you going through Gary Anthone's office?  They are very helpful in these matters.  Good luck.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Well I hope you got approval for your insurance company.  Midlands Choice is not an insurance company.  They are a PPO network (preferred provider organization).  Your insurance company is listed on your card...Cigna, Aetna, Principal, etc.  I know this from having worked at Midlands Choice for a couple years.  I do hope whichever insurance company you do have approved you.  Good luck!
