Respiratory problems before surgery

I currently have my surgery date scheduled with Dr. Anthone and am wondering if there's anyone out there who had any respiratory problems (like asthma or apnea) going into surgery that can tell me how things went for them.  I was told I might be put on a ventilator if my oxygen saturations fall during surgery, especially since my pulmonary function tests weren't so good.

So far I'm very impressed with Dr. Anthone and his staff and am looking forward to finally getting this done!

I didn't have sleep apnea per say, BUT I was on oxygen before I had surgery.  I was kept on oxygen while recovering for a couple of days and then they took it away.  They watch you closely for oxygen levels so I wouldn't worry!

(Dr. Anthone didn't do my surgery but I 'm pretty sure that this is standard for any surgery for persons with low oxygen problems and asthma).

HTH!

Good luck with your surgery!  :)
