Looking for others in NE w/
The DS, I'm curious as to how many in NE support groups have had the DS or BPD/DS surgery?
I was around on here when I began researching surgery (was looking at the Lap band at the time). And decided to have the DS. I have spent most of my time on the DS boards here, and realized that I would like some local support (hoping to make it to the Kearney support meeting soon). I know we all go through similar situations regarding weight loss surgery and I would love support for anyone / everyone in that regard, but I would also like to have some support from others who have had the DS.
I am thrilled with my success at this point, but also know that emotionally and mentally I could use some help from friends who are in the same situations. My two at home girls don't like to hear any more of my successes (I am getting smaller than they are and they consider my WLS as having taken the easy way out, they are in their mid-late teens) and make me feel bad at times. My hubby is a major support as is my best friend, but she is in Canada, so it is email. I want to be able to chat and meet up with people or even a person who has had the same surgery who is going through or has gone through some of the same things I am regarding the DS.
Is there anyone out there?
I see lots of the same faces that were here when I was hanging around over a year ago, congrats to all you for your continued successes! It is so awesome that we have all found a WLS that works for us and our lifestyles! Thank God for all the docs that can help us! :)

Hello neighbor, I'm in Holdrege. If you ever want to meet up and chat or something I would be more than willing. I went to the support group last month and really enjoyed talking with people that were having similar issues as me even though I was the only one there with the rny. I'll miss it this month unfortunately. I don't know about you, but I felt kind of lost after Dr. Sudan left (he did my surgery), so now I'm re-learning some things and getting as much support as I can get. Feel free to send me a msg, Kati.
Hi Kati,
Yes I am lost as well. I didn't have Dr. Sudan very long (last saw him at my 3 month in early August, when he told me he was leaving).
I would love to get together sometime! I have basically no friends in the area, one I guess I should say so I am lost for anyone to connect with. My best buddy (little sis adopted) lives in Canada too far for coffee get togethers. LOL
Are they having another meeting this month?

Great! Yes, they are having a meeting, next wednesday eloc (linda) posted a reminder you can contact her for the info on where it is or I'd be happy to give you directions (although I do not remember the address I'm pretty sure I could help you find it). I work at BD in holdrege on the 12 hr rotating shifts so I get every other weekend off (starting this weekend as my off weekend) if you want to meet up for lunch or something. Email me: [email protected] and I will send my cell#.
Thanks! But I'm 3 1/2 hours from Omaha and though I would LOVE to attend one there, not economically feesible. :( I'm going to aim for the one in Kearney, but seems no one can tell me if they are having a meeting this month or not. :(
I'm excited to meet Dr. Anthone and get some stability in my doctoring lol. I loved Sudan, but I think he let me slip a bit through the slats being he was leaving. :( I haven't had any labs since surgery and I KNOW that is not general practice. I just hope my numbers are all good.
Hugs!

I too was lost after Dr. Sudan left. I never had any labs done after surgery a year ago. I asked them about it and oh yeah we should do that at your next appointment and never would even though they said they made a note in my chart. I was so frustrated with Creighton, Dr. Forse, and their staff that I am leaving there. I hadn't really decided if I wanted to go with UNMC or Methodist for my future appointments. I talked at great length with Dr. McBride's nurse (UNMC) and got some really good information. I know they are a teaching hospital too so I was afraid of the time back-ups that ALWAYS happened at Creighton. Like everyone else my time is valuable especially when I am leaving work to go to follow-ups. I couldn't get into UNM****il 1/5. I decided to check out Methodist too. I didn't get as much info on them on the phone but was told I could go to the educational seminar to get more info on the doctors and how they run their practice. I went to the educational seminar at Methodist tonight (Dr. Anthone and Dr. Winterstein). I felt pretty comfortable with them. I really like Dr. Winterstein. I haven't decided for sure what I am going to do but at the moment I am thinking I will go with Dr. Winterstein. I did have lab work done by my gyno when 2 weeks ago although she admitted that she didn't know which tests would be required if I were doing it through bariatics. She did find that I was low on 1 vitamin. Whichever doctor I choose I want them to look at what was done and repeat it if any tests were missing. I just want to make sure that I am healthy and where I need to be 1 year out. Methodist is a lot closer to me too and I am thinking about their support groups.
Hope you find the support group you are looking for.

Hi,
Is this Becky? I live just east of Hastings too. I had RNY Oct 1 in Omaha with Dr. Forse. If youd like to email me privately, it is [email protected] Debbie
