One year check up

I saw my surgeon Dr. White last week.  He said I was right on track for my weight loss.  I had hoped I would have lost more by now...........( 76 pounds since date of surgery and 86 pounds since the first visit with Dr. White and when he put me on the two week liquid diet) but patience has neve been a virtue with me.

The last time I had seen him he said my band had slipped a little and if it gave me problems he would take out all the fluid and let it "rest".   My comment at the time was "over my dead body will you take out the restriction"

I made the mistake of telling him I have been having lots of acid reflux and my regular Dr. put me on some meds for it and it seemed to be helping.  Dr. White told me to stop the meds and then he removed all the fluid from my band.    He said the band was to tight.

Dr. White was right I have had no acid reflux and no vomiting since I left his office.   For the first time in months I kept what I ate down.   (I didn't tell him I was having problem keeping anything down that was not almost liquid.)

When I go back in a month he will start the fills again.   I am so scared I will gain a ton of weight back.

Hi Barb, I agree with your surgeon. You needed fluid taken out instead of taking medicine. You were in the red zone with your band. You also weren't able to eat solid food. You could have started eating high calorie liquids and gained weight. That is why it is so important to call your surgeon FIRST when you are having problems with your band. I hope you are feeling better.  Mona

I hate to admit when I am wrong and my Dr. is right..................

I have not had anymore episodes of acid reflux since the restriction was removed and no episodes of vomiting or sliming.

I am looking forward to the seminar this Sat. in Omaha.  I know last year when I attended it really was helpful.

Barb,  I have had this happen twice and had to go back to the clinic once and the ER once because I ended up dehydrated.  It is a learning process, isn't it?

Luckily I never had any problems with fluids..........   I am so scared I am overeating.......but I am eating protein first and really avoiding carbs.
