Anyone close to York or know of support group

I am writing from York, Nebraska and trying to find a support group around here.  Made a big mistake yesterday and went to a support group at Creighton.  The lap band group people were almost completely negative about everything.  There were only two in the group that felt bad about what the others were saying.  I thought it would be a good idea to go to a meeting before I have surgery.  Boy, I guess I was wrong.  My surgery is this coming Tuesday, 10/01/2008.  I have been trying so hard to prepare myself for this and my husband has really been pushing me to get ready for my "birthday".  Have been trying really hard to change my eating habits and getting ready for the liquid diet.  I have found a couple of the protein products that I really like (Unjury & Nectar) and have order plenty to have on hand for the next month.

I am having the Realize Band surgery and am getting really anxious / scared / excited.  I think more scared than anything.  I just keep reading all the posts about how people don't think there losing fast enough and I, myself, don't want to lose too fast or my skin will not have time to adjust and get some elasticity back before becoming an aweful nightmare of drooping skin.

Any encourage and prayers will greatly be appreciated.

Bummer Teresa ,I hate that you came away with all those bad feelings. But yes that is one of the pluses of the band. Slower losing, but from what I hear you lose for a longer time. Sounds like a good trade off to me. I will be seeing you Monday, Call me. I sent you a PM with my phone#

You just put a great big smile on my face.  I am so forward looking to me you on Monday and was worried you would back out on your offer, but see you are true to your word.  You are an angel to me.  I will give my husband your number, so he can contact you on Monday.  I believe I gave you his number, but will give it to you again in a PM.

I live in Grand Island and have gone to support group in Kearney a couple times that is really good ,everyone there is very supportive.
I know there is one here in Grand Island but have not gone to it yet.  There meetings are held on a days that I have a commitment to for the rest of the year.
I realize that with the band you do lose slower but the results are the same in the long run.  I have been completely satisfied with my band and would do it again in a heartbeat.  I have lost a little over 80 pounds in a year.   I have another 50 to go and hopefully by this time next year I will be at goal.
I had the same feeling before my surgery, anxious, scared, excited, worried that it would not work etc.   I do have droopy skin on my arms but so far my legs and butt have kept up with the weight loss.
Good luck with your upcoming surgery..............in the long run you will be happy with it.
