I went to the seminar and then found out Dr Sudan had left and since I have been so mad at Creightons staff for never returning my calls until I left a stern and direct phone call AGAIN Friday because my initial consult is Monday morning.  I am scared I am going to regret going through them.

Anyone have info/website on Dr. A at Methodist and how long is the process for RNY there?

Ugh,  I am an impatient person and I admit it but I sure have gave them a lot of calls just to get the first appointment scheduled and wanting to know if they got my medical records via fax, still they are not sure and are unable to tell me.  GRRR!

Hi Rita;
I certainly understand how you feel and it most certainly does not have anything to do with being impatient. As you know from reading my post that I had experienced many of the same problems. I believe that Dr. Sudan and Dr Wright leaving is signs of much bigger problems at Creighton. Although I can't go into detail; my PCP strongly suggested that I not have my surgery at Creighton because of the turmoil.

Switching to Methodist is the best thing I could ever have done. I went to the July seminar and had my consult with Dr. Anthone on Sept 3rd. Within 5 minutes of examining me he said that he first wanted to perform a Panniculectomy which would help me get out of my wheelchair and walking better, he also diagnosed an umbillical hernia which he will repair during the surgery. He said we will come back in 6-8 months and do the DS. I was concerned about my Medicare paying for two surgeries. But he said he could get the Panniculectomy approved with one phone call; and  he was right my surgery is scheduled fo 1PM on December 1st. I am excited, anxious and nervous. But I have complete confidence in Dr. A and have found his staff to be very accessible. You never get a recorded message and usually a call back the same day. I believe his office number is 354-1320. He also has a Google chat room for his current and former patients. It is accessible at ds-nebraska. Check it out I think you will find it interesting and helpful. But most of all stay positive thiongs will get better. God Bless !!

Actually, Dr. A has a Yahoo chat room,  not Google.

I had my DS surgery 3 weeks ago, and my f/u appt today, and I think Dr. Anthone and his staff are great!

If you are considering a change fom Creighton to Dr. A, just be prepared for a wait for a surgery date, as Dr. A is pretty booked right now with Dr. Sudan's DS patients and all of the medicare patients, in addition to his own insurance plan patients.  My guess is that the wait for a DS is running about 4-6 months at least.  I just feel fortunate I started with him before Sudan left, and before Methodist getting medicare approval for WLS, as I was in the front of the line.

His colleague, Dr. Winterstein, does have a more open schedule.  He is the laprascopic surgeon in the practice, and does bands and VSG's.

You're right I mis-spoke; it is Yahoo. I already have my Panniculectomy scheduled for Dec. 1st
and that is after seeing him on Sept 3rd. I am very fortunate because I came over fromCreighton and I am very aware of how backed up he is. Thanks

I haven't been around here for a while...but feel the need to weigh in.

I went to Dr. Forse's informational meeting with a friend of mine in NOv.  I hadn't been back to see anyone in Creighton since my last visit just before Dr. Sudan left (I begged him not too lol) and have had follow-ups with my GP.  One meeting with Dr. Forse was all I needed to know that he is NOT the doc I want to continue my care nor the messed up office.  My friend was having her consult the same day and when we got there, she had not rec'd any of the paper work she was told she would (and there was at least ONE other lady there with the same situation) and we had to wait 4 hours (due to him having an emergency surgery and not getting to the office until 1 p.m., understand that situation no problem).  My friend got back to see Dr. Forse at 5:40 (educational session was to start at 6 p.m.). She saw the dietician for about 3 minutes, a student doc for abou 10 mins and Dr. Forse showed his face about three minutes informing her that he didn't have time to visti as he had a conference to be at in 5 minutes.  We drove ONE WAY 3 1/2 hours...and he didn't have time to see her?  He was down right RUDE, told HER this was a serious surgery and she needed to be more compliant (with what I don't know, she was nervous and was joking around with the student doc, but had Dr. Forse taken the time he would have seen it was nerves not , not being serious about the surgery).  She is a diabetic and had 5 minutes to find food, eat and get to the meeting herself.  I was not impressed with how he handled the information/educational session at all.  He was very flippant with the way he answered serious questions continually stating (when he could have given at least a generalized answer) "I don't know your history so I can't tell you" even down to how long from point a to point b to surgery does it take APPROXIMATELY? He was flippant when he stated, "If you are looking for Dr. Sudan or any of the other surgeons that were here, they aren't I'm IT."  I am also very concerned with the fact that he has been in bariatric surgery from what I can find for information since the mid 70's BUT has only done approximately 1,000 surgeries?  No thanks!

Overall his treatment of my friend, his attitude and his lack of empathy towards the patients (or possible patients) in the room really turned my stomach and when I got home I contacted Dr. Anthone's office to see if they would take me as a patient.  I am now in the process of transferring my records.  I'm really sad to see Dr. Sudan leave, and what happened to the other two surgeons that were there?  I saw a female surgeon (can't remember her name) and another male surgeon while I was in the hospital.  Did they go wtih Sudan or transfer to a different hospital?

I'm hoping that my medical record transfer won't be a problem, though it took a WEEK for me to get the release papers in the mail but from reading here, I'm worried.  I see Dr. Anthone on Dec. 18th (MUCH sooner than I thought I would be able to, but he wanted to see me ASAP because of lack of lab work that was done with Dr. Sudan's office).

I suspect that Creighton is going to have a problem wtih keeping bariatric patients in the least...wonder how their other surgery patients feel about the change?

I just made an appointment today with Dr. McBride because of all the same crap people are experiencing at Creighton.  I had called last week and left a message for Dr. McBride's nurse to call me as I had several questions and I didn't know squat about the doctor.  I was mad that she hadn't called bac****il today but once I spoke to her, listened to how her practice works, and she answered all my questions I forgot about that.  I talked to the nurse for 25 minutes...way beyond what I have ever spoken to anyone at Creighton.  I can't get in for an adjustment until 1/5 but I am ok with that due to my schedule at the moment.
