Four AM and I can't sleep!
Hello to all! I wanted to briefly introduce myself and to say that I have read many member's profiles and I have found their posts so insightful and inspiring and that I really admire the support that you all give one another.
I have resisted posting or getting too involved over the last few months that I have been a member because I feel cautiously pessimistic about finding gastric bypass or lap band in my future, but tonight I just can't seem to shake it.
I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do next if you have insurance with an exclusion policy.
Thanks!
Not that familar with t/exclusion s. Wondering ..are there any clauses pertaining to health issues due to weight. I also have an OH friend ..That needed the surgery sooo badly..she changed jobs to one that had the ins. she needed. There's also the option of paying for the surgery over time. I guess it all comes down to how badly you need it. All I know is..My health has completely changed for All The Better. My ins. ( Humana Gold ) paid for it..but if that had not been an option. I would have done whatever I had to do. My weight was slowly killing me. I hope you can find the answers you're looking for.
It is hard when it seems like all avenues are closed to you when it comes to WLS. There is always self-pay, and as Jill said, changeing jobs to get insurance that covers WLS. You know the old saying, there is more than one way to skin a cat, you just have to keep on doing research until you find an avenue for you. I just apporved you into my circle of friends, so welcome. Take an active part on the OH boards and you will find a lot of support and good advice. I will send you my e-mail address and phone# by private message later today. Feel free to contact me when-ever you want. Have you started going to the support group at ST.E's. It is tomorrow night. Go to the Saint Elizabeths web site to get all the information. That will be another great resource for you. Hazel
Hi Monett, welcome to the group. There are a couple of options. You can change jobs and find a health insurance that will cover wls. You can also borrow money on your house to pay for it. There are also loan companies that loan money to pay for surgery. It is so frustrating when a company won't pay for surgery when it has so many good benefits. Mona
Hi all! Thanks so much for the wonderful support. I think that at this point, since I am looking into finding a more challenging career anyway, maybe I should explore finding a new job with better insurance. I feel sleazy asking, but does anyone have any pointers on great places to work with good insurance? I promise I have the best of intentions.
Thanks!
I see you live in Lincoln, maybe you could get a job with the state of nebr. not sure what type of insurace they have now but many years ago they had BCBS.
Also the federal govt. has good insurace that is what I have, maybe you could ck out what jobs are available , I think there is a web site for federal govt. jobs.
