Hello,  my name is Linda (user name eloc29) I have been reading the posts here and have received a lot of good information.  I finally got my surgery date Jan. 16 and I am so excited.  Lap Band surgery is the best way for me to go, I am 62 and looking forward to finally getting this weight off.  I would appreciate any advice and help you can give me. Thanks  Linda

Welcome and congratulations!  I'm Jennifer.  The best thing you can go is educate yourself, and do not be afraid to ask a question....everyone here is quick to respond, and willing to help out any way they can.  I was banded Dec. 26, 2007, so I'm a newbie myself.  My thoughts and prayers will be going out to you on 1/16!

Howdy Linda, I am Hazel.  I had RNY just about two years ago and at a whole different piece of this exciting journey.  I welcome you and though I had a different surgery, I will be more than glad to help you in anyway that I can.  For right now just get use to eating the way you will after surgery and practice getting in the required amount of fluids.  Any way, welcome aboard.

Jan 16 isn't far away.  We'll be thinking about you.  Good luck in your final appointments and make sure to ask every question you can think of.

Hi Linda, welcome to the group. I am so excited for you having  surgery. Just follow your surgeons rules. Try not to gain weight before surgery. The weight gain happens in your liver and it sits on top of your stomach. It makes it more difficult to do your surgery with a swollen liver. Let us know how you are doing. Good luck. Mona

 PettingHello & Welcome. I see you're holding a nice child there. I have a loving one also. She's a Shih-Tzu. Is yours a poodle ?

Yes, she is my 3 yr. old baby.  Her name is Abbie and she is a toy poodle, the love of my life at this time. Sometimes I believe she is half human, and I love the fact that she loves me unconditionally.

The Dog Whisperer says they're not human. Don't beleive it for a second. Some are more human than humans.

Best wishes to you Linda for a safe surgery with phenomenal results.  My biggest piece of advice would be to never lose sight of the fact that you still have to do all of the work - make good choices, small portions, water & exercise.  The band only helps us & unfortunately, it takes awhile to get to a spot to help us as we get fills!
