I have Coventry insurance and was wondering if anyone has experience with them.  I am thinking about Lap Band and am reading all the comments about insurance and rejections, etc.   This is the first time I've ever posted a comment or anything so I hope I'm doing this right.  I go to my first support group the first of August at Immanuel Hospital with Dr. White.  I must say, I am a little apprehensive about all of this but I just cannot get this weight off and am giving in slowly but surely. Thanks,
Chris C.

Hello-- First of all, you should call your insurance company and see if they cover WLS at all. If they do, ask them to send you the requirements you need to have it done. If they do not cover it, then your only option would be to self pay .  I am having RNY on August 6th with Dr. White in Omaha. He is an excellant Dr. and I would recomend him . He will have a check off sheet for things you will need to do., but the first and most important is to talk to your insurance company. Then you can proceed with the seminar. Best of luck to you, Chris C

Sorry I don't know anything about your insurance. But the one thing I can tell you about is the lap-band. If you are a person that has other health problems such as a hard time exerciseing  the band may not work!    Not to put the band down just because I didn't work for me, doesn't mean it doesn't work . I have  Fibromyliga and 53 yrs old  and my luck wasn't good. I'm three yrs out and have lost only 30 lbs which I'm thankful for. But it hasn't been easy. I don't know how many fills and unfills I went thur just to lose 30lbs.  So now I'm looking into DS.  I hope everything goes well with you. Take Care Marilyn J

Hi, call your insurance company to see if they will pay for surgery. Then ask what criteria you need to have to qualify for surgery. That will speed the process. Good luck.   Mona

BAD NEWS.  I just spoke with my insurance company and they said NO wls are covered and will never be covered for no reason-ever!  It is an exception written into the policy. Right now I guess I will give it up because I CANNOT afford to pay out of my own pocket.  I am really bummed out about this.
