support groups in Omaha area
Hmmm, I was going to say most doctors have their own support groups. But I see your doc is 400 miles away. There was a gal last year on this forum who was starting a support group in her home,, but I haven't heard anything about her in a long time.Don't know if she was able to make a go of it or not.You could call some local surgeons offices( I would call Omaha local) and tell them you need a support group. I would be surprised if they didn't tell you you are welcome, but I am not sure. I would highly highly recommend the OFF ( over 50 forum) her in Obesity help. I have been in there since 3 months before my surgery in 7/04 and I learned so much and had so much support I felt totally prepared for my surgery and always had somewhere to ask the questions and we have a ball in there.

Thank you I will make some calls today. I am so excited to get started on my journey. I have waited a long time. Dr. Forney seems wonderful and from everyone one I talled to so is Dr. Hollaway.
Not sure what you mean by the OFF ( over 50 forum) So new but I will try and figure it out. Thanks again, hope to talk to you again
I believe that the Med Center (UNMC) group is on the first Monday of the month. You could call 402-559-4000 and ask for bariatric surgery. They could tell you.
You could also call Dr. Sudan's office at Creighton and ask when theirs is.
I am in Omaha but I don't attend a group. I just read a lot here on OH - I go to the LapBand Board as that is my surgery type. The Nebraska board doesn't have a ton of activity but if you check out the other forums, you will get a lot of support in addition to the group you find.
