2 Questions - Changing PCPs and recommendation for PCP in NP?

I have a couple of questions.... I'm frustrated with my current PCP here in North Plattte. They are horrible at documenting medical records, they lose records and my Dr has actually made snide remarks about obesity and doesn't seem to be very "obese friendly" even though he did give me my referral for WLS. I also have been battling severe edema and persistent ulcerations in my right calf (due to venous insufficiencies from prior history of blood clots) and my doctor hasn't been able to help me get them taken care of and healed up properly. My first question - is it a bad idea to switch PCPs now, after I've been referred for WLS even though it hasn't yet been turned into insurance? Or should it make no difference? Secondly, does anyone have a PCP in NP that they would recommend that is responsible, caring and obese friendly as well as a competent doctor? Thanks, Michelle

Hi Michelley, You are paying the doctor to take care of you and if you feel he is not meeting your needs you can switch doctors. I don't know the physicians in North Platte. Maybe some of the North Platte members can add their 2 cents. You might also visit with Dr. Forney about your legs. We can help you with your legs. Good luck. Mona
