Anyone know of a Central NE Doctor to make a good PCP for 6 month sup diet?

I am looking for a good doc for the 6 month supervised diet that I know BCBS will ask for and I don't have.  Just got my Med records from the last 5 years from my PCP.  I've not been in specifically for weight loss, but at a minimum once a year I've inquired about it and he's made suggestions but has always avoided any drugs or committments to me.  I'm thinking I need a more proactive doc.  I am thinking in the GI or Kearney areas.  Anyone know of one?   Also has anyone had any luck with BC BS NE (State of NE)  policy?  I know it will be approved if Medically neccessary.  They wouldn't tell me specifics though, so I'm not sure what to expect. but I'm submitting my paperwork to the surgeon tomorrow.....  But I'm sure they'll come back with a diet requirement, although  my BMI is 46 and no co-morbidities...........at least none that have been diagnosed.!  Thoughts anyone?  Thanks!

Hi MJ, You might check out the grand island support group. They could give you some information. Does a doctor have to monitor your diet or could you do it with a dietician. Thanks Mona, but I'm not sure I even need the diet, I just need a good PCP. Info submitted to surgeon to send on to BC/BC of NE.  I will wait their reply.  I'm in small town ville and am in need of a supportive PCP.  My local docs are not personal nor really care.  I'm looking for a new one.  I'm extremely disappointed in the messages boards on this site.  It appears as if there are alot of lookers but not many that really care to share information or experiences. I thought this was part of this site to share and support each other.  Just venting!!  sorry 

Hi MJ  I would suggest if going to Kearney, contact Family Practice Associates.  The docs there are ALL fantastic!  They have two female docs, Dr. Lindstrom and I can't remember the other one.  They have several other docs as well.  Mine is Dr. Messbarger and he is sooooooooo awesome!  He is behind me 200% and said that whatever he has to do he'll do it to get me through to have surgery!  He has already run all the tests that would PROBABLY have to be run, because of other issues I was having, he said, let's just do all these as I know you will have to have them any ways.  I have been doctoring there for over 21 years and wouldn't go to anyone else.  They are right across the street from the Kearney High School.  Laurie
