Liquid diet
Every surgeon is a little bit different. I had 2 weeks of full liquids, 2 weeks of mushies, then normal food. I have heard some surgeons add 2 weeks of CLEAR liquids prior to the broth.
Actually, the liquids only after the surgery were much easier to deal with than the liquid prior to the surgery ;)

Hi Jeannie,
I just got banded on 6-12 so if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. So many questions and many answers.
My DR has me on clear liquid for one day after surgery then 2 wks of semi-liquid ( milk based like protein shakes and cream soups, pudding, cream of wheat) then 2 wks of pureed foods then 3wks of soft which is when i will have my first fill and then from wk9 regular foods (no high fat or sugar).
Honestly with the meds I don't feel like "eating" plus you have to drink all the protein and water. You really have to have a schedule and journal everything or you might forget what you have "eaten".
My best advice to you is to be PREPARED
BREATHING exercises- take deep breathes that inflate your chest and exhale slowly.
PROTEIN shakes- try them out now to find out which one you like better. ( i bought ISOPURE protein powder from GNC it has 50 g of protein and no sugar or carbs so really you only have to have 1 plus the other foods to have a daily intake of 70 g of protein)
SEMI-LIQUID- have the puddings and cream soups ready ( i mix the cream soups with chicken broth instead of water to have more protein.
PAIN-take as much pain meds as you can (do not believe the people who say that there was no pain and i could go back to work after a couple of days or that they started excercising right away) yes, u do have to walk but that is about it.
Best wishes and good luck,
mona
