Center of Excellency in Omaha?????

At the GI meeting last week someone said that Omaha Creighton had become a Center of Excellency and I was wondering if anyone else knew if it was for sure. I saw my GP today and with the exception of a couple of tests he wants to do he has given the go ahead for me to have Lap Band surgery! YAHHHHOOOOOO! Soooooooo now we begin. I don't think I will have a bit of a problem with him verifying that I have done medical supervised diets and such. He told me to pick the doctor and that he would call and make arrangements for me to see him/her. Soooooo now to the research of doctors. Would LOVE some imput from all to the doctors in Omaha who can do surgery at Creighton IF it has been added to the Center of Excellency for medicaid/medicare. thanks! Laurie

Talked to Dr. Sudans office yesterday , NOT YET. But they are expecting an answer within two weeks. That's what I'm waiting for also

Hi Laurie, I am leaning towards Dr. White at Immanuel in Omaha. I have been to two different seminars and I really like this Dr. White. I do not know if any of the Omaha hospitals for this surgery are considered "Centers for excellance" they may advertise that as a motto of some sort. A Center that deals only with Bariatrics is considered specialized. I do not believe Creighton is specialized as a Bariatric Center. My insurance company has actual Blue Cross Bariatric Centers. There are not any in Nebraska however. I say shop around for a bariatric surgeon, check his stats, talk to peolpe that have used him and make a decision. Good luck !! I too am in the "process".
