Hello all
I am having surgery March 26 and I am so excited. I want to be able to walk further than across a room and keep up with my son who is very active. I lost my husband almost 2 years ago and gained 50 pounds since. I have always been heavy and couldn't afford to add 50 pounds to my already obese body. I just want to get healthy. Any suggestions that you might have will be greatly appreciated. I have a great family and friend support but I need support from those of you who have been through it.
I am having the lap band. In Scottsbluff, likeI said I am very excited but also scared. I have failed every attempt at dieting. Yes I have lost but gained a million pounds it seems like anyway. I have concerns on how to still cook for my 13 year old son but stay on target with the band. I want him to still have a normal life. He is very excited for me because he knows how much of a struggle it is for me and he wants me to be around for a long time. He also wants me to be able to walk in the mall with him and go to all his sporting events because he is still at the age where the parent is OK. I worry about how to eat when I'm out which is alot. I know in the beginning it is going to be very limited but once I am into it for a while I guess I need suggestions on what to eat. I know that I have many questions but I am just overwhelmed with excitement about being excepted and surgery just around the corner. Thank you for your support.
I am having it in Scottsbluff. I think Dr. Hollaway is so nice and understanding. I am a little scared because I know that it is going to be some big life changes but I am ready. I have been to a group meeting and those who have lost weight are so inspiring. I know that it all comes down to me but I believe that this is the right thing to be doing and I hope that it adds years to my life.
Lindi, you couldnt have picked a better place to have your surgery!! The Dr's and staff is the very best! I had the band nearly 5 years ago and love every day of my life now...i knew i was dooooomeddd. Nearly home bound and now I ask myself sometimes "where is home"???? haha You will get to know Mona and love her too..be sure to get to a good support group or start one yourself. I started out even before i had surgery... later and good luck. Beth in North Platte, NE
Hi Lindi, I am so excited for you. I will be following you while you are in the hospital. You might purchase a kitchen timer and a baby spoon. You will need these things to time your bites and control the amount of your bites. Also get some chewable or liquid vitamins and calcium supplements. Walmart has these. See you soon. Mona
