Surgery Rescheduled
Boo-hoo I went to see Dr. Hung on Friday and now he wants to do my surgery at St. Elizabeth's instead of Out-patient clinic. I was pretty dissappointed. I thought this would go smooth and I should have known better. He says that because of my sleep apnea and high BMI, he just feels better about doing it a t the hospital. I just wish he would have decided this 3 doctor visits ago instead of springing it on me 10 days before scheduled surgery. Now of course the surgery rooms are all filled for that date, so now I have to wait til March 6th! I realize that is only a week later, but I had psyched myself up for that date and was actually ready to go! Now I just feel pretty crappy! The best part is that since I am self pay the cost of having it at the hospital is much more also!!
Oh well, in a month, this will all be over and I will be on my way to a new me!! --Angie
Angie,
I am sorry for your disappointment. I am sure once you have a set date in your mind, it is very frustrating to have to wait another week. Hang in there. I do believe that your doctor is being an advocate for you and wants to ensure everything can be done so you do the best you possibly can. I will see you in the hospital and we can get accquainted. I work with the weight loss surgery program at St. Elizabeth. If you have any questions or need to talk, feel free to email or call me.

Thanks ladies--every single person in my support system has said the same thing. None of them have much info on Lap-Band, but they all say they feel better for me that it is being done at the hospital. I feel better now, just really dissapointed at first.
Plus that means I get to be on shakes for another week--yeah! I am losing on them, but it's not fun when everyone else is eating and you can't. Truthfully I don't get as hungry as I though I might. I use the shakes from General Nutrition and they are really good. Plus they have 20 grams of protein and hardly any carbs. Last time I got the liquid vitamins there too but haven't started on them.
Angie:
My doctor broke his elbow 3 days before my surgery for lap band. and we had to re-schedule for more than a month later. So 7 more days isn't TOO TOO bad to have this postponed.
But I know how you feel. You get psyched up, and your whole life is going towards a particular direction, and then BAM! the big change jostles you.
But all this sounds positive! YOUR DOC IS DOING SOME STRAIGHT THINKING. Big round of applause for this type of fore-thought and wisdom.
YOU'LL DO GOOD, and your doctor is thinking of your very best! and in no time at all we'll be sisters of the band!!!!
Hope all goes well with you. My lap band surgery is the morning of March 2nd.
Stay in touch and tell me how your surgery goes. and I will, at the very least post on my personal web page.
We all are going to be SO CUTE!!!
