Wonderful support
Hello everyone,
It has been a long time since I have been here. Things are going well, it has been a fabulous year. March 21 is when I had my surgery and I have lost 105 since then and feel fantastic, I would like to drop about 60 more pounds. In April my divorce was finalized after 24 yrs of marriage, a sad time but also a new beginning for me. In May I graduated from college getting a certificate and diploma in Paralegal studies, and am just 12 hours away from getting my Associates Degree. (Anyone know of a paralegal job in Grand Island please let me know!!!) In July I was in the delivery room with my daughter-in-law watching my second beautiful grand daughter being born, it is truly something everyone should experience. In August I met a wonderful man who has become a very important part of my life, I did not realize I could be this happy.
But just last night a monkey wrench may have been thrown into that happiness. I got home from work and ate and about a half an hour after that started feeling icky. A pain in my stomach, that went around to my left side and then on around to my back, I called the ER Dr. on call and described the symptoms he thought it might be kidney stones, so I decided to go into the ER, just to find out for sure, as the pain was getting to be pretty unbearable. So we get there and they run me through their tests, x-rays, blood work, and finally a cat scan. The doctor came in to talk to me and I could tell by the look on his face it wasn't good. He told me that he thinks that I may have cancer, and may need to have one of my kidneys removed. I have the number for an urologist that I will call later this morning and hopefully get to see today. I do not want to tell any of my family or friends what is going on until I know something for sure, but I really needed to talk to someone about this, so that is why I came here. Thank you for letting me get his off my chest and I will keep you informed as to how things turn out.

Lori, what a frightening time. Please tell someone you are close to , that will be there for you. You need some one for a good hug and can hold your hand. You have come so far. I will be praying that this will only be a minor bump in the road. Congratulations on how far you have come.. Big Warm HUG.. Jeanb
Thank you for all the kind words everyone.
I have gotten over the initial shock of hearing this news and have been able to think and ask some questions. What I have found out is that they don't know if it is cancer or not, but because of the size of the tumor 6.7 cm (about the size of a racquetball ball, about 2 ½ inches in diameter). They feel doing a biopsy on it and discovering that is was cancerous could spread it, and that is not what anyone wants. So in the first part of March I am going in and having my right kidney removed, and from there they will check it out to see if it is cancer or not. My regular physician told me today if it weren't for the bypass surgery we may not have found this at this early of a stage. But I originally went in because I was having pain in my back and stomach on the left side, and he said that the pain was from scar tissue. So not only did the bypass surgery help with my weight loss it looks as though it has saved my life once again. I have so much to be thankful for.
I have told most of my family about this, and a handful of friends, and it definitely helps to talk about it. I find that if I talk about it when I need to then I worry less about it on a regular basis.
I just wanted to say thank you once again to all my friends here and everywhere for all the love, care and support.
