Never a dulll *&^%$ Moment
On Wednesday night Oct.11th I was taken to the emergency room at Creighton with horrible abdominal pain. Guess who had a bowel obstruction?? Lucky me. After 6 hours of pain, pain meds( I was singing Woodstock songs and searching for spinach in my blissful delirium) When I knew I was going to be admitted I made my daughter and BF go home. Now it is a fog, but I remember people keep coming in asking me if I didnt want to go to where my surgeon is who had done my WLS.. Why? this had nothing to do with WLS. "But he will know you and your anatomy, don't you want to go where they know you?" Well, I guess so. So they call an ambulance and after being strapped in and on my way the driver says, well you know since they COULD do the surgery here your insurance probaly won't pay for this trip, should we leave youhere?? I don't know what to do, I am confused, in pain and they obviously don't want me here. So I say keep going. When I get to Immanual I am met with "why did they send you here? You know we don't take your insurance." I start to cry, I go into surgery. I stay in the hospital for 6 days. I have to get back to work cause I am only part time and don't have sick leave. So now Iam back at work with 30 staples down my middle. Why would they wait until my family was gone at 3:30 in the morning, dep on pain meds to make me make decisions?? What a nightmare..Jeanb
Here in western Nebraska we dont have any other hospitals so we dont have to make decisions like that one. Geez you think they would have done what was BEST FOR THE PATIENT!! Which might have been to consult with family before they left? Glad to hear you are on the mend...hang in there. What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger..........or is that crazier?
