negative friends
Hi everyone, I haven't really had any neg. feedback with my friends. Everyone has been really supportive and encouraging. I have 2 cousins that had this done and they are really encouraging and are there for me if I need them as well as my boyfriend and my family (except my mom). My mom doesn't approve, thinks I am going to die etc. I could also die from health problems with being overweight but she just panics when it comes to her kids. So at the present time I have distanced myself from her to avoid any neg. feelings. My Dad paid for the surgery and has been very encouraging. I can feel the difference in my clothes and easier to get around. Just 2 wks post op and i feel better already. Except for being tired and wearing out easily, I am adjusting quite well. My friends have all told me that they can definetly tell the difference. Starting Tues. I go on solid food can't wait to not have to grind my food up and eat with a spoon!! Later, laura - Brooke keep up the good work - over 80lbs that is wonderful!!!!!!!!
Laura, good for you in making sure that you have support! Most importantly your Mom may take some cues in any reservations you may have. Call her on your good days, or just send her a little note card. My Mom even after four years thinks I am too thin. I have to remind her that she can't get used to the fact that I am not fat anymore. That she is used to the way my face used to look. She saw me last December for the first time since the surgery, needless to say it was a shock. I also say Mom, this is how I would look if I had never ever got fat in the first place. Suddenly everyone else in my family is fair game for the extra weight they are carrying and she feels free to comment on it too. I am no longer the fattest in my family, she doesn't know what to do with that! Give her time, she will come around, and it's her problem if she doesn't. Don't let that be the anchor YOU drag around.
