Yes, everyone picks on me.  LOL.  There is a rumor that when they did my RNY, they also did a frontal lobotomy!

Just a quick note to let all know I am home safe and sound.

Surgery yesterday went really well.  Dr Garcia said there was some scar tissue from my Hysterectomy last year - but apparently not too much.

Breakfast was juice and broth = so yummy after not having anything for 24+ hours . They did bring an English Muffin with Jelly so when they picked it up told them I cant have bread for long time.  Had lunch before I left, tomatoe soup and Milk.  Both meals went down easily and no issues.

Well I'm tired so I'm gonna lay down for a while.  Thanks to all for encouragin me through this process.

Hugs to all.

Welcome!

Like Steve said, yes that is pretty normal to begin with.  Try taking smaller sips or bites of food.  Even now when I am 8 mths out, I still forget sometimes and take too big of bite of something and it causes me problems.

Good luck!

Congratulations on your WLS!!!  Welcome to the losers bench.  I also had Dr. Monson.  The whole team is great.  Yes it is normal to have a little pain.  Everything is healing.  Eating and drinking may not be comfortable for awhile.  Just take small sips, etc.  Are you on pureed food yet?

If so, small bites.  I used a very small spoon to help.  Don't eat too fast (I put my spoon down between bites).  Hope to see you at the Merit Care support group.

Also, there are some of us that have had WLS surgery that get together for coffee once in a while.  WE always post when on this board.

Good Luck

Hello i am new to this and fresh out of surgery as of 1-7-11. Just was wondering if it was normal to have pain while eating and drinking. The pain starts right at the breast bone and it very uncomfortable. waiting on a call back from nurse but was just wondering if anyone had or has experienced this at all and if its a normal thing or is there something wrong.

Pam came through surgery well yesterday.   Surgery was at 11am and she was up walking last night.  She said the pain was not too bad and the pain pump was keeping up.  Should be heading home sometime late this afternoon.  She will update more at that time.
