Topic: Stricture UPDATE!
Ok, well I ended up having that procedure where they stick the scope down to your pouch. Well I had Dr. Kathwala (I think I spelled that wrong) Anyway, he ended up widening my esophogas and my pouch a little. He said I have been having acid reflux and it caused a small ulcer to form in my esophagas and in turn that casued scar tissue to start forming and so he medicated the area and my pouch he didn't think was that bad off but he widened it a little so I could actually eat lol, he figured that would be a good thing. The procedure was fairly fast and painless, haven't had any problems with discomfort, a little irritated throught afterwards, and tiredness (whats new) but besides that, I feel fine. He put me on Protonics and said I should be feeling better by Monday...I'm supposed to call them and let them know how I am doing. But I thinks thats all I had to say. God Bless! :)

Check out my profile for pictures of MARINER OF THE SEAS from a cruise I did with my family in 12/04, and from just two weeks ago when I did an inspection tour for this year's CRUISE TO LOSE!  Make sure you check out the pictures of the Royal Promenade, ROCK CLIMBING WALL(!!!!), 18-Hole Mini Golf Course, ICE SKATING RINK (again, !!!!!!) among other points of interest!  The Royal Promenade has café’s and bistro’s, and Promenade Cabins overlooking the “main street” – these areas are actually “Inside cabins” retrofitted with a picture window overlooking the promenade!  NO OTHER CRUISE LINE offers such a great, inexpensive alternative to what would otherwise be an “Inside”!!  Each day there are various activities here, including parades, parties (70’s and 80’s parties, Mardi Gras, etc.), and while at sea, the shops along the mall are open for business!

Go to www.rubycruises.com to PRE-REGISTER – upper right hand corner.  If you have any questions, you may PM me here, email me at [email protected], or call me TOLL FREE at 866-685-RUBY (7829).

Topic: optisource vitamins...
Ok, I bought the bottle of chewable chalk they call vitamins from the pharmacy at MeritCare but I'm hoping when their gone there is something better out there.  Right now I hold my nose and eat it, not easy since you have to do it 4 times a day.  I also bought protein from vitalady and the bariatic store online that I need to finish up...this too causes me to plug and drink.  I think I'm going to look for some of the unflavored stuff and mix it with the sugarfee oreos to make a yummy shake that I don't need to plug my nose to eat.  The online bariatric store did have a cookies and cream that was good and she had this recipe in her book.  I spose I could make myself eat a protein shake every night that tasted like a oreo blizzard..hahaa  So, what is everyone taking for vitamins?  Please tell me there is something other than the stuff they reccomend?  Thanks

Topic: RE: New to this site and have surgery on 8/7/2007....
I had Dr. Monson, from Merit Care....... he was very caring.  I was originally   to have same day surgery, however my surgery was very late in the day.  It was felt I would be best served by an overnight stay.  The care I rec'ed was excellent.  I have no complaints.  They provided me with pain meds frequently when I was in discomfort.  I have a very  low tolerance to pain, so it was very appreciated.  I have no complaints for the care I rec'ed.  I am also a nurse from a town 100 miles away.  I hope this helps.

I had my surgery on May 16 in Merit Care.  I did not have Dr. Howell, I had Dr. Garcia, but I am sure that Dr. Howell is a great doctor.  I know he has done many, many of these surgeries over the years.  Fears of surgery are normal...we all have them...so don't feel bad that you are having these feelings.  Just don't give up...you are on your way to a whole new life...a better one by far.  I feel better now than I have felt in many year....my health has improved so greatly it's unbelievable.  It is indeed the best decision I have ever made...to have this surgery.  As for the Merit Care stay, I don't have any complaints.  I ended up being there for six days, and found everyone to be supportive and helpful.  Hope this will help you...your time is getting close now...and soon you will be on the way to a better life... I don't know where you are from, but if you are in the Valley City area, we are starting a WLS support group, the first meeting is to be August 21, (Tues) at 7:30 PM in the Mercy Hospital Educational Building.  You may not feel up to attending that meeting, but if you are interested, send your email address to me and I will inform you of future meetings. OK?  Good luck to you on the 7th....soon you will be on the loser bench with us !!!

Thank you. I would be feeling great if it weren't for the whole having to eat and drink to live lol. But I think she is going to make an appointment for me if in a few days I don't get better. I hope it corrects itself. Robin
