Hi There Andrea.     Good luck on your WLS journey.  I have had great success with the RNY.  I've heard good things about the VSG also, but what I wanted you to be aware of, is more than likely - you may be "denied" the intial request with most insurance companies because they want you to follow "their" protocol in their decision.  The 90 day diet nutritional counseling (sometimes more, sometimes less) - but at least with the initial " denial - your pcp, doctor or whatever will have a basis of what exact documentation that they need to get you on the approved list !!! I also invite you to the TX message boards too - we are a very fun bunch of people and VERY ACTIVE And someone or some thread usually has alot of information for you, to expect before and after surgery. AGAIN - GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY AND I'M ALWAYS HERE IF YOU WANT TO TALK !!
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

I have been wanting to do this for so long.. Today I finally picked up the phone and made a follow up appt with my Dr.   He wants me to write down my dieting history over the past few years and he will then submit it to my insurance company.. I know I wont have a problem being accepted..my main decision will be which surgery to have..I am very interested in VSG so far.

I'll be coming to Minot for my next appointment! I'm scheduled at 12:30 so I plan on attending the group meeting, too. Will you be there? It would be great to meet you in person!

Girl, you are doing fantastic!  You had your surgery 2 months after me, and you are already almost caught up to me in loss!  Way to go!

You were so right...I went in there hoping they would numb me...but nope no numbing...it was a small poke then it felt kinda funny when she "walked across the port" to get the the center...then she took out the 2.6cc that i had from surger and put in an additional 1 cc...she had the 3.6cc in before i knew what had happened...I asked her "so do i have to wait a little while before you can put the fluid back in"  she said that she was already done...I just couldn't beleive how quick and painless it was...The bad think is that i have to wait until July to get my next fill because I will be getting my fills in Minot and the won't do the less the 4 weeks apart and they are in Minot in 3 weeks...So hopefully this fill will keep my on trac****il July...

I know what you mean about the munchies...mine isn't for chocolate it's for salty....I've learned when i get a crazing it's better to have a bit and not continue to crave it...I had been craving chips and salsa....I mixed my salsa with my cottage cheese and it was actually really good...not don't get me wrong...chocolate with cottage cheese doesn't even sounds good...but have you tried the Dark Chocolate??? I've heard that if you take a bit and let it melt in your mouth then wait 5 minutes it should help...you have have to try a couple bites but it's suppose to help....I had started to crave chocolate over the weekend so i went to walmart and bought a package of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate...pre-op i would have gotten milk chocolate or carmal and eatten the whole bag...but today i opend the bag...each piece of chocolate is individually wraped and i broke it apart and took a small piece and waiting 5 minutes and then took another small peice...now i'm not craving chocolate at all...and i actually only ate 1/4 of the individually wraped piece...You can also try SF chocolate pudding or even protein shake...just do what you can to take care of what you are craving while trying to stick with what is good for you and your band...Good Luck....You can do it...You are worth it...
