Hi, I had laproscopic gastric bypass on 7/2/07 - coming up on one year.  I actually had my 1 year check up today, and passed with flying colors.  Dr. Monson said I was doing great, and will now be followed by my primary care physician. The past year for me has been amazing....first of all, it took me over a year to get approved for surgery, after two denials.  Long story, but I quit fighting it for a while to have another surgery and get myself mended. I told Dr. Monson today that I thank him every day of my life, and I indeed do.  While I know what he and other surgeons do is provide us a tool to be successful, that took is what let me take charge of my life. I have lost 105 lbs in a year, and am loving life.  I have great amount of energy, I sleep without a CPAP machine, and my labs are wonderful. I have 2 very good friends who had this surgery before me, and were of great help to me throughout the process. Good luck to you.

I just finally got back into the ND Forum, and I read your post. I hope things are looking better for you. I go thru days like this, too. People can be so damn mean, sometimes, and I may be old, but I remember what it was like, that younger people are even worse about the insults and looks you get.  Just know that you are a beautiful woman, and as time goes by, things will get better. You have a man who loves you, a pretty cool brother (I read your profile) and some good friends. Remember that!  If they love you, then forget the rest, and be yourself. You want people to like the real you, it isn't any fun having to put on an act to keep those people around. If they don't like the real you, you don't want them around, anyway!
