Trust me, this surgery will take care of that.  I was the same way - I was never satisfied.  Once I got my date (2 months prior to surgery) I was pretty disciplined at that point because I was instructed not to gain any weight during that period.

Once I started the two-week preop diet I needed to be on, it was a non-issue.  I had all the things I wanted to have before that 2 weeks, as if I would never have them again.  That is just not true.  I tell my husband I think they did brain surgery instead of stomach surgery, as I do not want to eat like I did before.  Don't get me wrong, I have the things I probably shouldn't, but instead of eating a lot of something, I eat one or two bites and am satisfied.

I was the most horrible dieter in the world.  I had no will power and I couldn't hardly make it a day.  Now with my "tool" I am very disciplined, but the truth is I am not very hungry, even a year after surgery.  I eat what I need to eat to be healthy, I eat some stuff (bites) that I want because I want it, and I am in a good place right now.

Once you have surgery you will see a huge change, trust me.  I didn't even feel like I wanted to eat for several months, but I did because my body needed me to eat.

Good luck to you.  When is your surgery date?

Hello Everyone-

How are you these days? Good I hope. Hope everything is turning out the way you all planned! Well, I have a HUGE CONCERN and I am hoping someone will wright me back on this. I havent had my surgery yet and I am getting sooo VERY EXCITED! Well, my concern is that I have been EATING SOOOO MUCH for the past few months and it feels like I just can not stop. I eat something and then I go and look for something els to eat. Why cant I just eat something and be content? Has anyone els been like this before surgery and how do you fix it? Does surgery help this? I am really worried. I have gained about 5 lbs within 3 months and I just cant wait for my surgery. Someone please help me understand why I am eating soo much!

Thanks! I am getting more confidant that this is all going to go smoothly. I had my psych eval today and get the results on Monday. Have an appt with Bruderer next Tuesday!! whoo hoo!! His nurse Judy told me that BCBS of ND does not require a 6mth supervised diet at this time. I do not have any serious health issues as of yet..but have a significant family history of early heart disease (even death) along with diabetes.  Along with the discomforts of being overweight..sore joints, swelling, GERD, depression, some incontinence issues..so that should be enough reason.

I was banded in November 2006. It is a great program with a great attention to all the small details. You will have little to do with Dr. McColl after the surgery. All the fills are done by his PA,Shelly who is great. The whole class thing was a lot of work, but worth it.

Oh my - that sounds like a horrible experience; clearly not the 4th of July you were expecting......I am glad that you are OK. My mom used to have fainting spells all of the time and they finally attributed hers to low blood pressure. Our weekend was good; my son came home Wednesday night but I didn't see him until Thursday morning as a friend picked him up at the airport and they hung out for a while.   We just dropped him off at the airport an hour agol; I always hate to say goodbye.  We are thinking of driving to visit him in early October. I am glad there were people around to help you when you needed them... Lori

Topic: How my 4th of July turned out.

The day started off early(6:30 a.m). Curt woke me to find out if I was going with him to the race (he was running in). I asked is it Raining?Snowing?Hot?Cold?windy? To all he answered NO. Hells bells I got up and ready. I am after all his "fair weather" cheerleader.

I got cleaned up, put on make-up,I will not leave home without it.You never know who you will run into. Picked out blue and white outfit and a matching wris****ch(yes,a gal has to have a few watches to go with different colors of outfits). Fixed hair. Sandals. Everything was in check!

Off to the kitchen to make my cup of coffee and something for breakfast. Curt reminded me we only had like 5 minutes before we had to go. Knowing my slow eating pattern I chose a slice of whole wheat toast with p.n butter, ate that and took my coffee with. Keep in the back of your mind I did ask him if I had enough time for Eggo's and I didn't.

Drive to the college where the race starts from. He grabs my lawn chair out of the back of the car, I grab my clacker thingy's to cheer on the runners! Every good cheerleader has a set of those.

We start walking at a normal pace,He has like 35 to 45 minutes til he needs to be in the line up and were only a bit over a block away-Not a problem. After like 1/4 block I had one of those weee dizzy moments, it passed before I could even tell Curt the full sentence. Another 1/4 block later I yelled CURTTTT  as my body was buzzing and heading south. My face planted directly into the cement and Curt was at my side saying "Are you ok?" As I turned my head towards him he says OHH no your not. A lady had pulled up and was getting what ever she could find in her trunk to help with clean up. Yes I was getting bio-hazard on the cement LOL. Mind you I didn't break a nail or any teeth!

She stayed with me while Curt ran back and got the car. I was with it enough to dig the keys out of my shorts pocket so he could get the car! He then drove me to the ER.

Once to the ER he went in and got a wheelchair for me,and was back to the car in a flash. Once I got out of the car and into the nice chair he whooshed me off to the building. Mind you he had never operated a wheel chair before. I was pulling my toes in and kind of hanging on as he was not going slow enough for me! Almost taking my toes off at each door. I learned quick to suck my toes inwards!.

Pre-check/register into ER(7:55 am). Taken to room 6 and plopped into a bed. Machines hooked up and the waiting game begins. They were taking EKG,blood work, blood sugar levels, giving me a new TD shot and asking questions. I think the questions were part of some test,to make sure I was really with it. I passed!

I in turn kept them kind of busy. I had taken my water pill that morning and needed to go! I must of been escorted to the restroom at least 3 times. One nurse said again? LOL Hell yeah the pill is working.

Then when the waiting game was done (3.5 hrs) I was let go home(11:30a.m).

Test results:

EKG-Good.

Blood sugars-Good

Blood work(4 vials) ALL good

They have no clue what happened or caused it. Doctor says I look great on paper, prefect health. Come back if anymore problems. You get one pass out free pass. After that you will see specialist and under go lots of testing.

Came home, rested in bed,sat on sofa, sat in desk chair. For the most part it was the bed.  Every time I closed my eyes that feeling of smashing cement came into vision and my eyes would pop wide open again. Thought I was going to go into insomnia over this whole thing but was able to get some sleep last night.

Eating has became a chore- Did you know a braut takes 24 bites! when you can't open your mouth. I have to drink coffee, water or any liquids with a straw. This is not a diet plan I was thinking of partaking in! LOL

All in all I still have my humor. I am still scared  and have UN answered questions. I am not feeling the greatest yet and if this doesn't pass I will be going back in by Monday.

I want all you to know how important it is to go to the doctor as needed and to get those annual physicals! If your not around to read my long boring blogs who will?? Go to the doctor!! and one last thing...

Cement is not a good source of diet and tastes nasty! This is my first ever fall. Ok, when I was a kid I would have banged up knees but not as an adult..scary stuff!!

Take care-til next up date see ya! Thanks Curt for always being my rock and lets him know how much he is loved  always!

My hubby is in parades for the Shriners on the 4th and 5th, and my class reunion is this weekend, so those will keep us busy.  Plus there are relatives and friends in town we are hoping to see. And, yes, boys will be boys, and my hubby and his buds have a bunch of fireworks to set off, too! Have a great weekend!
