I have lost about 50 pounds - it is hard to say exactly because I have two initial weights - go figure!! I still want to lose at least 50 more. It is my understanding that you can get a tummy tuck (of sorts) if you lose over 100 pounds. I would like to weigh between 135 and 145.
What are your goals?
I have finally told my extended family. I didn't want to "jinx" this before by jumping the gun. I feel confident that everything is a "GO" from here. I thought I had made my decision to have the RNY but now................................. I just don't know. I keep telling myself to not dwell on it and wait to see what the surgeon says and go from there.
Yes, I want to be a part of a support group here in Williston.
Thanks again,
Sandy
btw I think you live just around the corner from me................(to the west) ??????????
Congrats on the appointment! The doc will help you decide what is best for you.
In my case, my hubby had alot of influence on what procedure I went with. He was afraid of the complications that can happen with RNY, after several friends of ours had problems with theirs. One had internal bleeding, another had an infection and was told if she hadn't come in, she would have been dead in 24 hours. So he asked me to do Lapband, and after hearing these things, I decided to go that way.
But you can have things happen with Lapband, too. The risks are lower, recovery time less, but the time it takes to lose the weight is longer, too. I've stalled (yes, my own fault, I haven't been exercising for the last 2 months) after losing 65 lbs. with another 100+ to go. And lap band requires more visits to get fills, and can take awhile to get restriction. But it also is something that can be adjusted for things like illness, pregnancy, etc, where RNY can't be adjusted without surgery. My friend who is a nurse says if she had it to do over, she'd have had lapband rather than RNY. I can't help but wonder if it would have been better for me to have RNY to lose the weight more quickly. But I feel healthier and know I am the only one who can get my body going and losing again!
So, there, you can see I can see pros and cons to both. Good luck with your decision! By the way, are you interested in meeting with others in Williston?
If someone else wants to organize this get together, I'll be happy to take a break and attend!
Still have not decided which procedure to go with but guess I will discuss this with Dr. Bruderer when I see him.
I am both excited and scared...................
