Boy isnt that the truth!  By the time that 32 degrees comes, people will be wearing shorts! When i went to work this morning at 5:45 it was 27 below here in Fargo.... I guess after it gets to 5 or so below, its cold and hard to tell what temp it is unless the wind is blowing....

That's funny.... yet disturbingly true on many counts!

Interesting how 30 degrees in October is "cold" but then 30 degrees in January is a "really nice day."

A couple of years ago, the local paper, the Fargo Forum printed a little article on how the perception of cold weather depends on where you live in the USA.  Here is an exerpt:

"While Today" show hosts discuss the "brutal" cold in the Big Apple when it hits 10 degrees, people in North Dakota are shrugging their shoulders and muttering 'They don't know the meaning of brutal.'

60 degrees above zero
Floridians turn on the heat, People in North Dakota plant gardens

50 degrees above zero
Texans shiver uncontrollably, People in Minot sunbathe

40 degrees above zero
Italian and English cars won't start, People in North Dakota drive with the windows down

32 degrees above zero
Distilled water freezes, The water in Grand Forks gets thicker

20 degrees above zero
Alabamans don coats, thermal underwear, gloves and wool hats.  People in ND throw on a flannel shirt.

15 degrees above zero
New York landlords turn on the heat; People in ND have the last cookout before it gets cold

Zero
People in Miami die, North Dakotans close the windows

10 below zero
Californians fly to Mexico, People in ND get out their winter coats

25 below zero
Hollywood disintegrates, the Girl Scouts in North Dakota are selling cookies door to door

40 below zero
Washington DC runs out of hot air; People in ND let their dogs sleep indoors

100 below zero
Santa Claus abandons the North Pole; North Dakotans get frustrated because they can't start their trucks.

460 below zero
All atom motion stops at absolute zero on the Kelvin scale; People in ND start saying "cold 'nuff, yet?"

500 below zero
Hell freezes over; North Dakota public schools are closing.

Topic: O/T - Who is getting the heck out of ND for a break this winter?
I love to vacation, but not ever as much as I am looking forward to getting to warm temperatures this year.  My insulation is gone (though if I had to pick, I'd still pick "cold" over the 110 lbs. I lost), and I am miserably cold all of the time.

I am going to Mexico on February 20th - and I hate to wish time away, but.....it IS warmer there.  I also am going to Palm Springs, CA the end of March for work, so at least I will have a little bit of a break from winter.

Have no fear, typically when I go somewhere warm, it warms up here!

Stay warm everyone.

Yeah, I am having that same issue. I have lost my layer of insulation that kept me warm all these yrs. My hands are always cold to the bone. This is the first time in like 20 yrs that I have owned long sleeve shirts and sweaters!! Unbelievable. LOL

Yes, group is back downtown. The time has changed. It will now be from 630-730. Each month there will be a speaker of some sort. We can carry on after that hour but will have to move up to the fireplace area upstairs. We will be on our own at that point. Some ways that all sounds ok and a bit more structured but still maybe not right. Who knows, time will tell.

Jan27th- 630-730 Auditorium.  I don't remember who the speaker is

Feb 24th- 630-730 Auditorium. Dr. Howell

March 31-630-730 Auditorium. Sports Medicine

That's the list so far LOL

Thanks for viewing my video! It was fun to make.

Yeah this winter bites rubber bullets!!

Good luck when you apply at AC. Its a nice place.  I work with a couple people that used to work there. I myself have worked in that field for over 25 yrs. I have worked all levels.

Good job on the pouchtest! The pounds will roll off. Just keep your eye on the prize!! I have faith you will do wonderful in no time at all

I am sooooooo not keeping warm.  I miss seeing you too.  I am going to try very hard to make it to the Meritcare Support Group meeting this month.  It is now back at the hospital auditorium, isn't it?

I don't think I will get there next month, as I will be gone the last week of February, and the last week of March.  I really will try to get to this one.

Hope you are doing well.  Your "video" is amazing!  You were smart to have pictures of all of that stuff.  I have one too, but not as good as yours.

Hey Tinkerbell025!!!
I would have to get back to North Dakota for one of the heaviest snow winters in years...I feel so blessed!!! LOL.  Actually I don't mind it too much...it's just being stuck at home so much.  But I am applying at the Ann Carlsen Center here in Jamestown.  That will force me to get out and about!!!
And yes...I just finnished the 5daypouchtest.  I was so happy to find out that my pouch wasn't ruined!  It only holds a cup to cup and a half!  And I have already lost 8 pounds...but got a long way to go!!!  Sure is nice to have so much support this time!!!
Thanks so much...Linda
